The ideology of communism wasn't founded in atheism, it was founded in totalitarianism.

Atheists don't have to rely on the teaching of a religion for guides to their behavior.

And this isn't a new idea. The Greek philosophers first developed "ethics", which was (and is) a way to tell right from wrong without divine authority. It's based in reciprocity, which isn't exclusive to any religion. (Don't do to others what you would not want them to do to you).

To conflate atheism with communism is just intellectual laziness. As far as I know, atheists run the gamut of the political spectrum, and socialist ideals have been embraced by very religious people, too.

Further, atheists aren't "destroying" America. Atheists are such a small perecentage of the population. Atheists do not hold high public office.

And imo they are a much-needed balancing force to the religious zealots who would have us turn the clock back 50 years.

Admittedly, I think that the scorn that is heaped on religious thought of any and all types by atheists is not going to serve them well. Newton pegged it when he said that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

I relatively have in no way spoke back this question in the past so right here is going. Morals are basically a social build. A norm is shaped so as that a society can exist. As time strikes on society variations the morals and values of a community because it see's extra healthful. case in point. in the bible, hebrew morals and values have been distinctive than they are actually. they have more desirable with the cases.

There are athiests who have far stronger moral values than some people who pretend to be religious but who pull all kinds of immoral crap on all kinds of people. People who don't believe in God are not necessarily people who would destroy the country. Some athiests don't even object to having God's name used in things associated with the government. They just don't happen to share the belief but don't object to people who do.

When it comes to what could be destroying America, athiests may be the least of anyone's problems. Either way, it is incorrect to claim that all athiests have no moral values. That just isn't true. What may be hard for religious people to believe is that it is entirely possible for a person to live an extremely moral and even spiritual life without fear that God is watching and about to sentence one to Hell if some sin is committed.

Some people are just naturally and strongly moral and decent even in the cases where they may believe that there is no God and there is nothing after we die. People who are like this are not the people you need to be attacking and worrying about when it comes to who destroys America. People like this are not communists either. People like this may actually be people who could be the ones to find a consensus among all the bickering religions in the world because their minds are not stuck in one set of beliefs or another and they can find the humanity shared by everyone.

The Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore, and for you to say that atheists have no moral values exposes your ignorance. I think the religious extreme right is destroying America by trying to impose its will on others.
Also, you need to learn how to spell "atheist"... and why did you capitalize it?

Religion has started more wars than aetheists, buddy.
Christians have killed, maimed, raped, stolen, harrased, tortured and asaulted their way through history. All in the name of a book that is untrue, full of lies and proven to be written by a gay, mad emporer 1500 years ago in an attempt to hold together a failing empire.

In god we trust?
I wouldnt trust a christian as far as I could throw one.
Screw christianity and lets hope it dies a terrible, godless death as a way of saying sorry to all of the people that have died in it rank and murderous name.

Communism?... Not really the same thing ...

First of all it is not Athiests, it is Atheists (learn how to write).
It does not mean that because we don't beleive in a god that we have no moral values.
There is a big difference between moral values and religion.
And second, I do not see any Atheist crashing planes into buildings or killing people in abortion clinics.
Uneducated, ingnorent SOB

This from a guy who's other questions suggested "paying a hooker to have sex with my (maybe) gay son" and asked whether or not it was "wrong to have sex with the retarded girl who works at McDonald's," suggesting that you were doing it to use her for sex. Yeah, people like YOU definitely have cornered the market on "moral values." If there is a God, he thinks you're a piece of crap.

As if George Bush and the '"gay" bishops' had great moral values. Seriously I wonder what made you ask this question! I would rather go for atheists rather than today's religious people who are nothing but absolute LOSERS!

Actually I would say its the religious who are shovelling their stories down everyones throats that are causing problems. Aethists have morals AND a logical thinking ability. What this country needs are more people that think with logic and not with faith. This is the 21st century.

Well, you don't have to believe in god, or be part of a religion, to have strong morals. I'm not American, and i am Christan, but it seems to me that it's the religious people who seem to do most of the damage.
And its not the atheists who push their beliefs on other people, its religious people who push their beliefs on other people, and who seem to ruin things for everyone else, just because they don't agree with it.
