They have to avoid gluten and that basically means avoiding wheat, rye, barley and sometimes oats.

If they are OK with oats then porrage and various breakfast cerials are OK but check thereis no malt added for flavouring as thats from Barley. Also some meusli based on oats, nuts and fruit can be a good option. If oats are not an option then the obvious option is cooked eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns etc (avoid sausage as it has cerial filler), or a smoothy (milk, fruit, honey, yogort blended) and a fruit salad.

Please know that cereals such as Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Rice Krispies, Kix, and Corn Flakes are NOT gluten free!!! They contain malt flavoring and/or oats! Celiac Disease causes an autoimmune reaction when any gluten is ingested. Gluten is the protein commonly found in grains such as wheat, barley, rye or oats. If you make them a fresh fruit dish, be sure that you use a clean (not wooden) cutting board and a clean knife. Celiacs are very sensitive to gluten and less than a crumb can cause the autoimmune reaction to begin.

A full English with gluten/wheat-free bread, plus fruit and yoghurt. Lovely! Check out the "free from" range at Sainsbury's to get some ideas for any bread products you can toast. There's a whole aisle dedicated to this now.

dinobytes...yum....my celiac kid has them every morning! Rice chex are good too. Good news is that most labels after the list of ingredients says if it has one of eight major allergens, of which wheat is one.

IF it's a grownup, yeah, you might go with other's suggestions and have eggs and bacon (make sure it's black label bacon)...you can replace wheat in any recipe with a flour mix, one part rice flour to one part potato flour and one part tapioca starch and one tablespoon xanthan gum. Most hashbrowns and tator tots have wheat as a binder, so I'd avoid those, but you can make your own using rice or potato flour.

Oh, and don't buy it a health food mart, it costs way too much. Go to your local Asian market, it's way much cheaper and in larger quantities.
