The teenager in question is unfortunately like many out there nowadays. The "coulda woulda shoulda" answer would have been directed towards the childs parents. Start young, once they get to teenage years you have not much influence over their personality or their lifestyle choices when not around you. You have to take time with them when they are little and be consistant throughout the years. Enter the building blocks of personality as well as life. Enter sports, hobbies, and other extra curricluar activities and help them grow, don't just watch from the sidelines. Intervention at this point is futile. Good Luck !

I think that you should start by spending time talking to the teenager but not lecturing or giving sermons. Ask them about different topics like maybe painting, writing, challenges that they have, different types of art, social activities, outdoor activities and see how they respond to the different topics. Also, look at what their friends are doing to spend time... do internet search... maybe do charitable work... making christmas and new year cards with a ground of local teenagers to sell and donate money to poor and vulnerable people...

As a parent try engaging the child in the possible activities which the child hasnt still encountered.like,if the child feels interested in doing something different, encourage.also, tell about the bad effects one has on health if addicted to alcohol.suppose,u bake a bun,and u give the chocolate sauce or something to the person and ask him to decorate it..!just make everything special and motivated.

just wish ur son good morning in a different way..etc..jus make him feel cosy, energetic and free to tell u wht evr he wants to...

Put aside some time to spend together. Talk. The more you get to know each other, the easier it will be to find distractions and amusements. My 13 year old son and I are really good friends and knowing what he enjoys is extrememly helpful when trying to keep him occupied.

I guess you'll just have to help her find hobbies that she enjoys. Of course, there's always the TV.....
