And do they really work?

I had hiccups for about an hour last night and tried everything I could think of, holding my breath, drinking water from the other side of the glass, singing and none of it worked.

If you drink water while holding your nose and getting someone else to put their fingers in your ears - I know it sounds weird but it almost always works, something to do with no air entering the body for the diaphragm (the thing that makes you hiccup).

The only one that works for me is to pinch my nose (block the nostrils) while drinking half a pint of water, then breathe slowly afterwards. It works most of the time for me.

Hold your breath for 10 seconds then immediately swallow 3 times in a row.

Hold your nose then your breath and drink a tall glass of water straight.

Get some one to give you a fright

Hold your breath and count to 100 by 5's

Drink milk slowly and hold your breath fully then exhale slowly.

*all else fails, eat alot slower and dont drink fizzy drinks to fast.*
main course of hick-ups caused by indigestion.

now this is going to sound weird, but it always works. when your with someone who has got hiccups just say to him, i m going to give you 10 pounds when you do it again. then this person tries really hard to hiccup again, but he cant do it again. Why? I don't know...

try holding your breath and swallowing 3 times (without breathing in between) this usually works for me

First, exhale all air out of your lungs, All of it! Then take the deepest breath you can and hold it for as long as you can.

I always hold my breathe for as long as possible before i turn a funny colour..that usually orks for me!
