Here's the thing. When you in a relationship with someone, there is no getting rid of them or forgetting them. They will always be there in your head. Now yes you do get over the fact that it hurts eventually, but you never forget them. Relationships are a special thing and when you are with someone it essentially is always there in your head. There's always the one that forever got away.
Now i know that everyone will tell you things like: relax, just get over it, take a bath, read a book, or go to God. More or less you just have to figure it out on your own regardless of what people will say here. Because dealing with heartache/regrets, its a natural part of life, its the bad side effect of love. But if i was to offer my best advice, i would say that you should chalk it up to experience. Count it as a learning experience, so every time you start to think about her just think about what you learned from the situation, how it will make you a stronger person, and how it will help you in the future, but don't compare your new relationships to that one. If you do that your not giving anyone new a fair chance. Old comparisons just spell bad news, because nobody will be exactly like her. Relationships are a big part of everyone's life, and they shouldn't be forgotten, but they shouldn't be used as a marker or setting the bar for the rest of your life. Best of luck in your hard times...

The reason you can't forget that relationship you had 8 years ago with that girl is because she is probably your first love.First love are always the hardest to forget eventhough he/she has the personality of a bull.I advise you should probably content yourself with the fact that she is happily married and because of that, you should tell yourself that you should be happy too maybe not with the same girl but maybe with someone that has the same characteristic and personality like her.Maybe that should help. And,its okay to not forget first love. After all, most of the people don't.

Perhaps your relationship at the time was less stressful cuz you were still without adult responsibilities?? Whatever the reason,
you remember it fondly as a 'carefree childhood romance'.
Adult relationships are more difficult....youre still going through a learning process. Some of us take longer to figure out how to enjoy an adult relationship. Peace.

Dude, not gonna lie, everybody has to have one of those "the one that forever got away". Otherwise, who would listen to all of those songs? Honestly, do what you can, i've been in the same boat before. You won't forget about her, but you've got to move on from her, or you'll dwell on her forever like i did and you'll still be lonely.

your in a bad situation there. your using that relationship as a yardstick for all others.....if you thought about it in more detail or could go back in time to that relationship you would probably find it wasnt all it was cracked up too be.... get over it and move on...it aint fair to you or future partners
