Mine climbs fruit trees, knocks several fruit down with her head and then climbs down to eat them.
I never knew dogs climbed trees.
She's an english bull terrier. does lots of mad things! but she's awesome

interesting answers. My dog doesn't climb straight up a straight trunk, rather its a tree that has a 'ledge' in it about waist height (to me). She is motivated by the fruit. LOVES fruit, will eat anything at all. food obsessed totally!

i had a dog once who would loved to climb trees but only the sort of leaning over ones where he could get up easily. He was a blue heeler and unfortunately got run over by a car. His name was Bono.

well not my dog,
but my sister's does he climbs trees to get stick well more like runs up them.
He's a ridgeback cross pit bull the breeds in him are in the same category as yours so maybe it's a breed trait?

Mine doesn't climb trees...I don't think she can...she's a yorkie. Maybe your not feeding your dog much, or she need a lot of exercise.

Nope my dogs didn't. They love to scratch the tress but not to climb on it. Cats I supposed is great climbers.

I was doing a little reading earlier on the Catahoula breed, which possesses this same characteristic (we own one that doesn't, however). Very interesting (and unusual).
