couple of possible reasons the dogs nails are too long. they need to be trimmed if you dont know how to do that take them to a vet or grooming place even with the specail dog nail clippers you can cut wrong and end up with bleeding if that happens apply pressure towel held with your hand only.
the other possible reason is that they have salt ice salt on there paws . that stuff is torture to a dog . they might also have some other stuff on there paws but if they do it all the time like you say then it is more likely the dogs need there nails clipped.
if this does not help go to the vet or even too a very well known pet grooming place ask the vets office which one is good.
the vet or the vets assitant might have more tips for you after you try what i said and they will give out the advice free over the phone. good luck

If each thing obtainable has been performed then it quite is boredom or anxiousness. quite some canines try this too. some proprietors positioned a lampshade on the dogs so as that it couldh't lick the paws. If it gets that undesirable, maybe a lampshade is the respond. Does she like fidgeting with you?

i have a german shepherd cross. He always licks and nibbles between the pads of his paws until they are red raw. Ive taken him to the vet, he has no allergies and nothing stuck between his paws. Its just a habit. Its quite common in large dogs, assuming you have a lrg dog

My parents have a lab that is allergic to a ton of things. We found out that when she goes outside and the grass tickles her feet, she gets the irritated and starts licking and nippling at them. Try making sure that the hair between their paws isn't too long. We trim hers. Also, keep your eye out that they don't get too agressive with the nipplin, as they could really start to irritate them worse.

It may be possible that your dogs are allergic to something in their food. Corn, soy, and wheat are three of the biggest culprits as far as food allergies in dogs go, and finding a brand of dry dog food that is free of these ingredients can be tricky. Itchy, red, flakey skin, and a dull coat are common symptoms of food allergies. Also, licking and chewing on their paws due to the itchiness is a clue to their allergy. Always check the ingredients on your dog's food, and always check with your veterinarian to eliminate other health problems that may be causing this problem.

Well my dogs did the same thing. What I did was give them some flea and tick spray on the paws because if it is a tick or something it could be VERY hurtful to them.

Take them to a vet and have their anal glands checked, I have found that this is often the reason. They think that by nibbling their feet, (which is I suppose easier than nibbling your bum) that the irritation will go away. I've not made this up honest, my vet told me!

You mentioned "dogs", if you have more than one dog with the same problem then it must be some kind of irritant. I'd have them checked out at the vets or talk to Pet Shop owner for advise first.

This could be a number of things my dog does this every summer it was an allergic reaction the best thing to do would be to take them to the vets because nothing else we tried worked the vet gave my dog an injection and two courses of antibiotics and that sorted him out.

The best thing to do is wash them with sop, and take them to a vet if they keep nibbling their paws.
