They are here to find the truth, as our spirits, whether we like it or not, were created to worship God. When we dont, our spirits search for truth.
So leave them be and let them remain here so that the Lord Jesus Christ can in some way, perhaps the only way, touch their lives.

Why are Atheists in the Religion and Spirituality section? Take any category and you will find people debating both sides of many posted questions.

I'm not an atheist, but here's my wild guess:
This is the "religion and spirituality" section. That means this is the section to discuss "religion and spirituality" and not "the section for those who believe in religion". And so people get together in here to debate and ask religious questions. One opinion about religion is that belief in God is dumb. Another opinion about religion is that disbelieving in God is dumb. A third is that belief in the Judeo-Christian model of God is dumb, but keeping other options open. I adhere to the last one. You adhere to the second. Your atheist friends adhere to the first.
And so we come here and swap thoughts.
Ain't debate grand?

Spirituality has to do with conscience, meant as different levels of awearess, and its knowledge; religion has to do with believing to have an answer to the 'who's at the beginning of everything?' question. So, dear sister, we're in the right section, just as well as you do too;) Peace.

You cannot ask a question to which there is no answer. Sprirituality is a personal thing and it varies from one individual to another.
Manu aheists believe that religion is perverse to humankind. Mostly because it causes irrational thinking. Also because it rarely remains personal: religious people always want to affect other human beings. Religion divides our race (the human race, that is - there isn't any other anyways).
That is why we are reading your posts. So you don't keep it poisoning our life and endangering our children's minds.
Sorry if we are disturbing you but the disturbance weighs nothing compared to the damage religion can and has made to civilization.

Who says atheists can't have points of view regarding religion and spirituality? I'd say they probably have just as many or more opinions, points of view, answers, etc, as people who are religious and spiritual.
I don't have to be a pancake in order to know something about pancakes. I don't have to be a Christian to know something about Christianity.
Get it?

Lady, c'mon. Use your head. How many times a day is this question asked? You are here often enough to know what we have to say about this.
Atheists can be spiritual. Many Buddhists are atheists, for example. They can also believe in anything other than gods and still be atheists.
Even if they were not spiritual, this site is not FOR the religious and the spiritual, it is ABOUT the subject of religion and spirituality, subjects that affect ALL of humanity and since I belong to humanity, I will voice my opinions.
You are a bigot. You have revealed THAT in YOUR statements. I think they should split this section into two sections - sane human beings and fundie nutjobs.
EDIT - In response to your little email...

Subject: bigot?
Message: Hello, again.
I posted this in the details to my question:
Well, there were a few good answers here, but mainly what I expected; lots of justification for mocking, insulting behavior.
Cool Zero, you're fine with me. In fact, anyone of you who doesn't participate in the mocking, belittling, and repetitious stupid questions such as, "Can God create a rock he can't lift", are fine with me. We can debate. It's the haters and scoffers I am referring to.
But as I said, lots of justification for bad behavior. You poor things, I will pray for you.
If you aren't aware of the insulting and rude questions and answers given, you aren't reading enough.
Also, I've never seen the question I posted asked here before, and I don't think you have either.
You are the bigot; I'm tired of you and your atheist buddies talking to me like I'm an idiot, loser, or insane.
Be blessed and have a nice day.

Is that enough?
As for bigotry... *I* would never suggest that anyone leave this section, or that anyone does not have a reason to be here, or that it makes no sense for a particular person to be here. Even as a Christian, I was able to understand why someone would be here.
No matter how you look at it, this is a bigoted statement -
"You are party crashers; you don't belong here."
The responses you received to your other questions were ones that spoke of those *individuals* views on *their own* spirituality. They did not say that "atheists have no spirituality of any kind," because they did not speak for all atheists as you have.
Also - if you were really interested in answers to the question of spirituality, you could have found many answers easily -

But it doesn't matter whether atheists are spiritual... like I said, had you stopped to think, just for a minute, it would be rather easy to see that this site is not FOR the religious and spiritual, it is ABOUT religion and spirituality.
Just like Law and Government is not FOR lawyers and senators, but is about Law and Government.
Or... just like Performing Arts is not FOR performing artists, but ABOUT performing arts.
It's not a hard thing to understand, hon.

Spirituality implies belief in a "spirit". Like it seems you believe. Me, being agnostic, not atheist, but down the same line, have a belief system where I draw my morals from. Such as, I don't steal because I "believe" stealing is bad, not because a man in the clouds told a man on a mountain to write down on a rock that stealing is bad. I don't believe in invisible forces, magic, voodoo, with craft, or god. But this leaves me free to not fear Satan, sin, and hell.

I dream of a Yahoo Answers where people honestly ask questions *about* topics instead of doing nothing more than standing on their soap boxes reciting dogmatic rhetoric. This is supposed to be for questions and answers -- not preaching.
