i mean they only have 3 menu choices how hard can it be to make a hamburger? i always have to wait 10-15 minutes for a meal. i watch them work and they work really fast but it seems like my food takes forever. theres one person cutting the french fries, one person frying the patties, one person taking orders. its like an assembly line so whats the hold up?

but their choices are hamburger, cheeseburger, and double cheeseburger. there are a lot of customers so cant they fry the patties and just form the burgers all at once because its just the same patty just either 2 patties or/and with cheese.

They do sometimes take longer. However, consider this. They cook their food for your order. It hasn't been sitting under heat lamps. They shred fresh potatoes to make your fries. You can get that cheese burger as a single, double, triple, 4x4, animal style, or just about any way you want it, even without the bun.
Not only that, their staff are consistently well mannered and actually look you in the eye and engage you in conversation instead of talking with the other staff about the manager or bickering.
To boot, they have reasonable prices and awesome food. They are also privately owned and not franchised which may be why the quality has remained so high.
They are often very busy but worth the wait any day. I wish they had In N Out in my state!

They don't, at least not in my experience. In fact, one night I wanted a double double and the line was backed up out of the drive-through area and into the parking lot. It only took me about 4 minutes when I thought it'd take 15.
Part of it, also, is that sometimes they cook fries in small quantities. I've seen how much they cook at a time and usually the amount they dump into the fryer would fill maybe 3 fry containers. I don't know if there's some reason why they have to cook so little every time, but that could be a reason why it takes a while for you.

The food at In N Out isn't all that great -- plain ordinary. The fries are nothing special. Given the absurd wait times, it's not a favorite of mine. There's no plausible excuse for a ten-minute wait to buy a burger with fries. Anticipate demand, use heat lamps, get me out of there in under four minutes. Try preparing food that has some flavor while you're at it.

Well they do have some other menu choices. Besides, they do it that way so they know your burger gets to you hot, and made to order. If they make them ahead of time and let them sit there warming, they will be the same as every other fast food joint in America and the quality of the food would go way down.

They make them to order, AFTER you place your order. That's why. It's the same at Wendy's. Or any other place if you get a burger any way but the way they usually make it. If you get a special order at McDs, you have to pull up and wait 10 minutes for a quater pounder. Because they can't know how you are going to order, they don't make them ahead of time...

I know why it's because they have so many orders and you are hungry that's why it seems like it takes forever
