Most Muslims condemn Osama Bin Laden's actions on the following grounds.
Mohammed preached that you must offer your "enemy" the chance to convert before you kill him. I don't know if any of the 9/11 victims were offered that chance.
Mohammed also though highly of the Jews as opposed to pagan arabs, until they tried to "overthrow" or "kill" him. The Jews killed both Mohammed and Christ appearently.
Mohammed liked Christians and Coptics especially. He saw the religions joining together and even said Coptics will be Muslim Brothers at the End of the World.
The Qu'ran is wonderfully insightful!!!
Read it not to convert, but to understand.

If you read carefully all the answers to questions about Islam on the site, you will find a disturbing trend to portray Islam as a religion which requires war, jihad if you like, and eventual world domination.
This is at odds with history and there are a few Muslims trying to say, 'No we are not like that'
Do you think that we, in the West, have a problem with killing people who are completely innocent?
Do you know if the person who informed you about Islam was a Moslem?
Do you, ever, ever think that all most of we read of Islam is put forward by those wishing to hate Islam?
Would you like Christianity to be portrayed by some of the preachers from the more extreme tendency in the USA?
Maybe not.I am, by the way, a deep and sincere atheist.

Muhhammod said to his followers in the Koran:
Do not insitigate a war with anyone, for it will only bring shame.
However, if someone has wronged you, then you must retaliate, until a peaceful end can be approached. Do not allow the person who has wronged you to get away with the act of disrepect, but absolve the situation as soon as you can.
And of course, killing people is not what Islam is all about, Christians have killed thousands of Jews, and Catholics wiped out the native Americans, are they an evil and vile religion? No, it's what people do that's vile, including being narrow minded.

This is because when the Islamic empire was at war with the Persians and the Byzantines there were only two views concerning the world.
There was the Dar al-Islam which is the house of Islam. this name was given to any area which was controlled by Muslims.
Then there was the Dar al-Harb, which means the house of war, and was given to any area that was not Muslim Territory. This view was acepted because it was believed that they should spread their faith and Gain wealth. However they could truce with an area if invasion would be costly to them.
But in answer to your question dont think that all muslims are at war with any non-Islamic country, because even though this was the common belif, the world has changed much since then, as have the Islamic traditions, there are now many "houses" including Dar al-Amn, the house of safty, Dar al-Hudna, the house of calm and many others. the view has changed because there are many muslims living in countries which were previously Dar al-Harb which meant they were in effect at war with themselves.
One final point, it may be true that some muslims are at war with the world because of their belifs, but it would only be a small minority of Conservative Muslims. Just as there are a small minority of Pro life Christians who Murdered Doctors, giving the Faith a bad Name. My advice is dont be so hasty to hear only what is bad or negative about Islam as there is not only much good in it as well, but there is also much bad here in the west.

Long before 9/11, back in the 70's, I heard Muslim leaders teaching this very philosophy. They were also teaching that to live this, yet to lie to non-Muslims, infidels, and say this was not true was also acceptable, because as infidels, they were not entitled to either life or truth.
That does not mean that this is a true reflection of all Musilms or the teachings of Islam, but radical Islam has been around for quite a while.

A superb example of inter-extremist dialogue.
The people that did 9/11 were extremists.
The people that say "if you are not a moslem then according to islam you are at war with islam" are also a type of extremist.
Islam is not at war with anyone. If you think about it, there are about 2 billion Muslims on this planet. If 2 billion Muslims were hell bent on killing the other 4 billion, there would be a whole lot of red smeared on the walls.
Extremists will always be at war with each other though.

That is all religions, "You are with us or against us". Not all religions are ready to kill because you won't join them, but the thought pattern is the same. Here are the main signs of a cult....
1. Believe in this religion without question or you are at error
2. Give monetary compensation to this religion
3. Do not question anything about this religion
4. Quit thinking for yourself
Don't let the towel head terrorist scare you. It's all they know, it's how they were brought up. In a perfect world, we would all have microwave popcorn and HBO.

It does sound pretty disturbing, but the thing about this site is that you don't know who it is you are talking to, they may not have been a muslim at all. Don't let what one prat said distort what you already know about muslims - they are just people, good, bad, fat, thin. Like everyone else.
I have read the question by the way, the guy said 'some people believe...' he didn't say it was fact or his own opinion, just that some people believe. I don't think he meant any offense at all.

So what exactly is your question?
I have noted several people on this site who claim to be muslims (eg one who was called Muhammad something) who are obviously not muslims when you look at their profiles and other questions asked.
Hitler was born into a Christian family. He went to a monastary school and wanted to become a priest. Does this individual represent christians?
When the US dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were all the people killed soldiers?
When the Israel dropped cluster bombs in Lebanon, were they expecting no "collatoral damage"?
Even in a war situation, islam does not allow deliberate targetting of innocent civillians. "Non-muslims" are not automatically assumed to be at war with islam or muslims.
Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #62)
Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. And indeed, there came to them Our Messengers with clear proofs, evidences, and signs, even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits (e.g. by doing oppression unjustly and exceeding beyond the limits set by Allah by committing the major sins) in the land!.
( سورة المائدة , Al-Maeda, Chapter #5, Verse #32)
And a believing man of Firauns (Pharaoh) family, who hid his faith said: "Would you kill a man because he says: My Lord is Allah, and he has come to you with clear signs (proofs) from your Lord? And if he is a liar, upon him will be (the sin of) his lie; but if he is telling the truth, then some of that (calamity) wherewith he threatens you will befall on you." Verily, Allah guides not one who is a Musrif (a polytheist, or a murderer who shed blood without a right, or those who commit great sins, oppressor, transgressor), a liar!
( سورة غافر , Ghafir, Chapter #40, Verse #28)

first of all, there is too a lot contradictions about 9/11, about who did it and why, i'm no longer even gonna bypass into that. second, what you're quoting the following is one persons own opinion, and that i don't believe of you should base all of your understand-how in this. each custom has reliable and undesirable aspects to it, all in accordance with what view element you're searching at. purely take this through the indisputable fact that is, someone's opinion, you're loose to guage his opinion, or the entire 9/11 element. I purely advise that you do not come to any comclusions from this one man or woman.
