OK well this question could possibly offend some.. sorry if it does. Not intending to.

I keep reading on here that all athiest try to do is convert people or make them deny their religion. Why is it attack on the athiests? Catholics and Jahova Witnesses are always trying to convert. I personally lean towards athiest, as too much stuff in my past makes me question what i did to deserve it. I don't buy free-will with it.

But why not attack every religion then instead of jus athiest?

* I personally don't care what people believe in, but I don't see where I am wrong to possibly doubt what most believe in.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to get a householder to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I think we tend to see the most injustice or "attacks" going to the groups which we identify the most with. Perhaps you think people just attack athiests because you seem to lean towards athiesm yourself.
I'd like to add that in every religion there are people of all types of personalities with different attitudes, just as every religion has different shades and variations to it. Atheism is no different. There are many different "kinds" of athiesm (though not as many as in major organized religions) and so we should stay away from generalizing it or the people within it just because on the surface it seems a very basic belief without any variations.

well everyone has a free will to believe what they want. i believe that that is what scinces is going to end up proving. as a catholic or jahova witnesse, they only believe that the more people saved, the more god would be pleased. they do attack every religion and belief that contridicts what they have faith in, because in the end, thats all what man truly has, needs, wants, and if that hole isnt filled by something, than death is our only option.

its seems to me that the indoctination of atheistic beliefs is in contradiction with itself. you will get a lot of atheists that hate that religions indoctrinate children, and convert people. but in essence is that not what athiests are trying to do. to me atheism is just as much a religion as the others. it doesn't matter, we all worship something. every human is created with the nature for self-preservation, therefore there is always something that we as humans inadvertantly worship wether we like it or not.

I'm not sure.

Perhaps some see another religion (particularly a Christian-based religion) trying to "convert" people as less dangerous than Atheists trying to "convert" people. However, belief is belief--and, contrary to popular belief, Atheists *do* believe in something.

Thank you for your well-asked question.

Truthfully we all are accusing the other of doing what we're doing. It's ugly and entertaining all at the same time.

Stick around and you'll see every belief and non-belief attacked on this board.

Just for the record, God is not the author of pain and confusion, man is.

Good luck.

I am a born again child of Jesus Christ. I do not think anyone should attack anyone - we are all made in the image of God and God loves every single one of us.

When we attack others, we are spitting in God's face.

I do think that all religions are being attacked here, simply because we are all human. It is not pleasing to God though. We as Christians need to tell others where they are wrong, but we must do it in love.

think of it this way--if you believe in it, you think its right
aren't people always trying to tell others what they think is right?
not just religion--everything,

if I had a penny for every time someone tried to tell me their sports team was best....

imagine if afterlife was tied to sports--people would be trying to convert each other like crazy~ well, more than they do

athiests are probably attacked because their position is easiest to understand. "I don't believe in God"
