obviously this is in response to all the people who answered my last question with "why do YOU try to convert people to Christianity????) I'm not a Jehovah's witness, and never will be.

Because one day "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that JESUS IS LORD"

you want to do it now? great! Later? fine.

Thoughts?

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to get a householder to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It saddens me to think of how many lost people are in this world today. Including myself. I don't live the life that Christ wants me to live and I don't do my part to teach others of his love. But I can say this, you are right, every knee will bow. I just wish that people would do it willingly right now instead of waiting until they are forced. Jesus never said anything to anyone that didn't convey the message of love and yet they put him on the cross then, and they are still putting him on the cross now. The only comfort in all of this is that his will, will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The only advice I have for you is to love and share Gods love where it is wanted. God even said, that if a town doesn't except you, then to wipe the dust off your feet and move on.

God Bless.

Glad to hear you're not a JW, dude. That's a load of baggage I don't want to carry, either. Still, there will probably be more of them in heaven than most Christians know. Our God (the Christian God) really has a sense of humor.

About the conversion thing, though, I have to admit I love to share my Lord with people. If the people don't know Him, I do what I can to help them "see" Him. I do it for the pure love for all His creation! I want to share my joy and happiness with everyone I can! After all, don't you share a good story with your friends when you hear it?And if the story's true, doesn't that make the sharing of it all the more important? And if it will save your friends and loved ones from harm, and give them peace and true joy, how could you keep from BEGGING them to listen???

look, please don't get a hard heart because some people give you a hard time.

you do care or you wouldn't be posting. and you know it can be too late--the demons know God and tremble, but they aren't in heaven.

st. Francis said, preach the gospel always, and if necessary, use words. just live for Him, keep Him as the answer to what your hope is, and let Him sort out hearts.

keep the faith.

That's equivalent to saying "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is your Noodly Master".

Means just as much to me as what you said.

And as for converting, I think when people said "you", they meant it in the general sense... "you" meaning "proselytizing Christians in general".

You would make a terrible Muslim...not wanting people to convert and all!

Good for you...religion is a personal choice based on your own relationship with God.

An impressive show of humility would be much more convincing than a rant.
