Well, here in Oz, if you are said to be putting your "2 cents" worth in (in a conversation), you are adding your opinion.
We sometimes say "2 bobs worth" as well.

"my 2 cents"=my own thoughts/opinion

basically, your opinion might not be worth much, kind of like 2 cents, but its there for people to listen to.

It means "my opinion" no matter how small a difference you might make. " I just want to get my 2 cents in".

it means adding your opinion to the mix.... like "well, that's my 2 cents," like you threw in your own little personal opinion
