Is making a Christian doubt their faith a huge feather in the cap if you succeed?
A great ego booster?
Does it make you feel fiendishly euphoric to corrupt one of us?

Satan means "the accuser". You can draw your own conclusions from that statement.

Moires Fate, liberal Christians don't do those things.

BTW, you seem to be one the angriest, bitterest people who post here, tht is clear from the way you feel you need to insult and talk down to everyone who doesn't think the same way you do.

Email me, please. I can be a great comforter without bringing God into it. I don't know what's going on with you, but talk to someone before that bitterness eats you alive.

Well, I never said they could convert a true believer, I only asked why they obsessed with trying. I mean, I go their best response to the atheism and spirituality question I posed, and the answer basically said that atheists aren't spiritual. So then the question, if atheism isn't a religion, and atheist aren't spiritual, then why are you here in the "spiritual and religion section? I mean, I know it's a free world, but it's kind of like crashing a party, isn't it? Only there are no reprocussions because you are anonymous. At best, it's rude.

I'm glad you said something. All their questions are like a pompous philosopher trying to prove a null point.

It is so annoying and I find them closed minded and overly critical.

This is once again a pathetic athiest question.
If you are so worried about others making you doubt your religion, are you actually the one doubting it? I am closer to athiest then a religion I have actually learned about. Answer this for me: If Catholics are supose to be so respecting and giving, then why if a homosexual wants to be gay, it is against all rules. I believe God made us, and God is the leader of being Christian. So why would he make someone who would be hated? I don't by free-will. As this I think is something you cannot help.

So I am sorry you are accusing athiest about conversion, I believe you are trying to downgrade us or them (however you want to take it), into being something else.

By the way I thought everyone was supose to be equal again in your religion... I believe that was a rather snude comment coming from you.... doesn't sound like equalness to me. --- You can draw conclusions from that statement.

that's all aspect of the "large fee" - bypass out and spread the reliable information. All Christians do it, to their own stages. it will be like asking a Muslim, "Why do you pray so commonly an afternoon?" that's purely aspect of their faith. Or asking why a Hindu thinks cows are so needed. that's aspect of their faith. in case you requested a Christian in the street about their faith, they might, to some degree, inform you about their enjoy. once you ask a question on Yahoo solutions, your profile is coming over to MANY persons. Plus, we've Paul in our historic previous - the guy who spread the reliable information everywhere the regarded international on the time. He became once truly in the route of Christianity first of all - even as the leaders of the time stoned Stephen for being a Christian, Paul held their cloaks and watched! So if Paul would have a conversion enjoy, we reason each person can. it really is why we attempt.

Obsession is perhaps a bit strong :-)

When you see someone sufferring from a disease, there is a natural tendency to help him get cured. This is also true of mental disorders like schyzophrenia.
I remind you of some of the symptoms of schyzophrenia as detailed in the DSM-IV:

Illusions, delusions, hallucinations, hearing voices, thinking that invisible "beings" are watching you or influencing your life, illogical reasoning i.e life after death, comming back from the dead etc... Perhaps these symptoms look familiar ?

Got an hour and a half? The Christians speak for themselves.

No one can convert another person. The person has to do that for themselves. If their faith is not strong, then perhaps there's a good reason.

Actually, looks to me like she's right, at least, according to etymology (as opposed to a religious site)...

Satan -

Proper name of the supreme evil spirit in Christianity, O.E. Satan, from L.L. Satan (in Vulgate, in O.T. only), from Gk. Satanas, from Heb. satan "adversary, one who plots against another," from satan "to show enmity to, oppose, plot against," from root s-t-n "one who opposes, obstructs, or acts as an adversary."

In Septuagint (Gk.) usually translated as diabolos "slanderer," lit. "one who throws (something) across" the path of another (see devil), though epiboulos "plotter" is used once.

"In biblical sources the Hebrew term the satan describes an adversarial role. It is not the name of a particular character. Although Hebrew storytellers as early as the sixth century B.C.E. occasionally introduced a supernatural character whom they called the satan, what they meant was any one of the angels sent by God for the specific purpose of blocking or obstructing human activity." [Elaine Pagels, "The Origin of Satan," 1995]

Because it is time to evolve. Just like in the old days that people thought that the earth was flat and were proven to be wrong.
We should stop thinking like we're primitive.
It is obvious that the bible is full of things that just do not make sense.

First of all, SATAN MEANS THE ADVERSARY, NOT THE ACCUSER. Second: who's trying to do what? We just bring facts, read the Bible, and when provoked by some bigots, we simply show them the verses of the Book they base their beliefs upon, that they never read. Is that a crime? If so, just stop provoking us;)

Do we go around knocking doors trying to convert people to atheism?

2006-12-04 12:55:36 · answer #9 · answered by rb_1989226 3 · 0 0

Personally, I don't want to convert anyone. We should all be allowed to follow whichever belief system we choose. But I should also ask why so many christians believe it is their duty to convert us? Far too often I have answered the door to religious fanatics telling me I should choose god!

I think the question you really should be asking is, why are so many 'christians' trying to convert everyone else?

I'm trying to reduce prison overcrowding... I'm motivated by the fact that 10% of the country is atheist, but only 1% of its prison population is.
