I started smoking weed when I was 13/14 because I was curious and really was just looking for something to numb my mind (I had a wacky family life), and something to accompany my drinking (started that when I was 12).
I then started smoking cigarettes when I was 16 because they were something to smoke when I didn't have enough or any weed...and again, they accompanied the drinking nicely.
By the way, I quit smoking when I was 22. Cold turkey. I just decided I wanted to be HEALTHY and not die of cancer. That was 6 years ago and I would NEVER go back to smoking cigs.

i used to smoke as a teenager. i guess it was a combination of curiosity, rebellion and the assumption it would be cool. i started smoking at a very young age - i was 13. i think another big influence was my mom who smoked, too. of course she would have never allowed me to, but still, she was kind of a role model to a young girl like me back then. later on, i quit for half a year but then unfortunately started again. back then it was a stressful time, and i was one of those who were really yearning for a cigarette when having a lot of stress or problems. this year, in march i finally quit at the age of 19 (almost 20). i still dont smoke and it really is not appealing to me at all. i watched my health getting worse and worse, and i hated to smell like smoke. im a student and i just started to work in a night club as a part time job, and i can barely stand that bad smoky air in there. after my nightshifts, the next day when i wake up i have really bad headaches like having a hangover or even worse, without drinking of course! this kind of shows how poisoning smoke to the human body...

I didn't start smoking until I was 22 and in my first job out of college, working for a high-end fashion retailer. I worked in a small, closed office with two chain smokers; it was easier to join them than try to fight them. Also, there was incredible pressure to be very thin at that workplace, and cigs curbed my appetite. Also, I was flat broke, and a pack of cigarettes lasted a lot longer than a cheese sandwich did.

I started when I was in the Marine Corps. Just about everybody smoked back then, not that is a reason to start. Both my parents smoked and I was really never educated back then about the negative affects. For me it was a way to stay awake for several days during ops.

Why??? I started smoking when i turned 18, just out of curiosity, i guess, after a couple years then i got hooked. now i wish i never tried it at all, wayyyy too expensive.
How??? well they light the end with no filter, they put it to their lips n suck in, it goes to their lungs n pollutes em, then they blow it all out, thats how.

First when you are in teens you start smoking for the heck of it or want to feel you have grown big. Afterwards they feel because of their work load, then for tension, then finally slave to that. For somereason or other devil tempt them to spoil their good health which god has given.

Most of the smokers I know smoke because one or both of their parents smoked.

For me it was hanging around someone who smoked, who used to give me cigarettes. The part where you get hooked is when you buy your first packet... once you do that, it's hard to stop.
