My man carries a gun too, though he's not a policeman. Laws permit it here.. it scares me terribly, to know that he's actully had to use it, to know that he's actually had to shoot someone. Yet, he is the only man who has ever made me feel safe and secure. I feel as though the world could come get me, and he would stand his ground and protect me.
I guess if I can feel that way about my love, then why should a lady not feel that way for you? It's difficult overcoming the fear that something may happen to the one you love, but when you love someone, you accept their job, or their environment, and support them through it. I'm not into "uniforms" unless they are on my man also, but hey - you may find that on its own is a turn-on for some ladies.

I don't know very many girls who go around and actually ask guys what they do for a living before talking to them. I think if you met a girl and she found you interesting, than found out after awhile you were an officer, I don't think she'd just walk away. Lots of officers are married or have girl friends so...I think it would be more important on how the officer acted about being an officer. If you acted like a control freak or something, that might be a big turn off, or if you bragged about it. I just wouldn't say anything, until you two have talked awhile. You shouldn't be carrying a gun when your off duty!!

I would not knowingly date a cop.
If I loved someone, was in a committed relationship, and they decided it was something they had to do for whatever reason, I wouldn't be thrilled with it, but I'd try to stick it out and learn to deal with it.
But no, I absolutely would not date a cop. It's not the gun that would bother me, it's the possible or probable phone call to get my butt to the hospital because he's been shot or stabbed, or the knock on my door with two guys in uniform telling me that the person I loved was dead that I couldn't handle hanging over our relationship. It would always be there.
My husband was in Bosnia for 6 months. That was hard enough. Couldn't do it. I appreciate the service that police officers provide. (most of the time, I could live without speeding tickets...)I completely understand how much we need good cops. As a military wife, I get a lot of the same issues as police officer's wives, but for shorter periods of time. I couldn't do it for years. But I'm really glad there are people who can. We need good cops. ANd they need good family support.

I don't think its would be hard for a police officer to get a girlfriend. She should know what she is getting into before starting a relationship and what possibilitys can happen.
If my boyfriend was a police officer, of course I would be scared for him but that is his job and I know he would do everything that he can to come back home safe to me.

hmm nah i thought police officers wud get gfs really easy. but they would probably be people uve known for a while and fully trust you. a police officer does seem to give off a sense of security but at the same time if u dont trust em it can b scarey. and also the thought that the person u love dying at work and always risking his life is sad. but nah i think police officer or not ud attract most girls the same. it more depends on ur personality and stuf

I know a few cops and they all have wives/ girlfriends and although their wives do worry about them a bit more (risks of the job and all that) they all seem to be happy. But really I shouldn't think that it would really matter to a woman who liked you what you did (unless perhaps she was a criminal) but just as a thought have you ever thought about dating a woman that is also a cop or possibly in the forces as they would better than anyone understand why you do what you do!

I'd feel safe if he's with me, but scared for him when he's gone, and i might run the habit of calling him too often to see if he's okay. but as long as there's no threat of him harming me, I think i'd be fine with dating a police officer. this line is so cliched, but women do love men in uniform.
