Sounds like a tension headache brought on by a really stiff neck - maybe you slept at a weird angle and strained a muscle. Take hot baths, take asprin, get a massage if you can. If it persists, go to your doctor!

First of all, your throbbing head is because of your stiff neck. You most likely have a subluxation, which means there is a bone or group of bones out of place, putting pressure on a nerve. I suggest you go see a chiropractor and get x-rays taken to see what is going on with you. In my case, the x-rays showed that the curve of my neck was completely backwards compared to the normal person's curve and I had no idea before, and that was the reason I had horrible headaches 3-4 times a week for years and had sleeping problems also. After getting chiropractic treatment, my headaches and sleeping problems became MUCH less frequent. Although yours may not be backwards like mine, if those bones have moved even slightly, and are putting pressure on nerves, that will cause all the pain you are having. Good luck :)

I wish that you had stated how long this has been going on! Do you have a fever? Is it over 102 degrees? If not, it's probably nothing terrible. It just feels that way. Have you been at the computer too long? Lifted a on nothing too heavy or slept in a funny position?
I would take ibuprofen and get heat on my neck.
A hot shower with the water on your neck and upper back could help. Also a mixture of olive oil with a bit of lavender oil on it is good for self massage on the neck.
I like to use those thermocare neck heat pads. I do not take the back off. It doesn't stick then, but it stays warm for 16-24 hours. By not using the sticky stuff, you can move it around.

You probably have a stiff neck. This is usually caused if you have any back problems, the tendons in your neck stiffen up. This leads to the tendons in the vack of your head to tighten up, forming knots in the back of your head.
Migraine pills will help, as well as any muscle relaxing medication.
Another possibility is that you slept very hard the night before, not doing the normal night time movements. This will make the neck muscles stiffen as well.
It may take a couple days, but use a heating pad and take some over the counter migraine pills and it sould go away by midweek.

There is a possibility you may have meningitis. See a doctor NOW. If you have a stiff neck, fever, and throbbing head, you need to be seen at the ER. If you DO have meningitis it could be viral...which is treated with medicines for your symptoms.
IF it's bacterial...you need antibiotics.
Go very soon.

It could be stress, however it could be a lot of different things.
Most the time, when I have a stiff neck, it's the way I'm sleeping. Try finding a comfortable position without a lot of pressure on the spine.
If it persists, you should probably go see a doctor.

Sounds like it could be a stress headache. Where there is tension in the back of your neck.
Or you slept wrong. The tendons could be "out" of place. Letting it heal is the best way to go.
If your neck is out of wack, go see a chiropractor.
If your headache continues, go see a Dr. Could be something serious.

First thing is you need to see a Doctor, he should order an x-ray of your cervical spine (top of your neck) then go from there, a cat scan of your head maybe in order. Eliminate everything, if pain killers are not working for you. Do not ignore your body!

if you are over 50 ( possible stroke) or have had a recent head injury(possible concussion) see a dr. asap! otherwise try taking some painkillers and sleeping on fewer pillows for a night. i know i get that after sleeping on too many or different pilows! if it doesn't go away in a few days then still see a dr. it could be something serious.
