I'm used to it all, living in Salt Lake City, and they don't seem any weirder than any other religious people to me.

Thoughts? And where exactly did you hear the things you heard?

polygamy banned, i think 150 years ago. the polygamists you hear about call themselves fundamentalist mormons, but they're not part of the mormon (lds) church.

I am LDS and some people think we are weird because our beliefs are quite different from the rest of "mainstream" Christianity. We are people just like anyone else some Mormons are good people and some aren't.

I think because they often give selflessly are more concerned with the hereafter it makes other people nervous. Kind of like when someone doesn't like someone just because they have a real positive attitude. Some people don't like to be reminded of their own faults and when they see others working hard to do good they feel they aren't doing or living the way they should be. It's just one of those bizarre human behaviors. Perhaps you know someone who is really negative and constantly bringing everyone down, and then they come across a genuinely happy person or someone who has things going well for them and they will do everything possible to belittle them or bring them down. I don't understand it myself.

Also LDS Mormons aren't polygamists, fundamentalist Mormons are polygamists, there is a difference.

It is simply because they don't understand us and have heard only bits and pieces of what we believe. One of the biggest differences between LDS and other Christians is that we are encouraged to learn what and why other faiths believe as they do. I took a class at BYU entitled Religions of the World. It was very enlightening and gave me a whole new respect for people of all faiths.

The link below gives our 13 Articles of Faith. That tells you EXACTLY what we believe. Check it out for better understanding.

Everyone is weird.

I've never met a Mormon I didn't like. I haven't met many, but still...

My brother is one. It makes him happy. That makes me happy.

Mormons, like all prods, reject The Vicar of Christ on Earth. As such, they're destined to burn in the fiery bowels of hell forever.
