If you were landing a small plane, like a C172 in a class B airport, how you you go about paying the landing fees and who would you pay?

It depends on which airport that you go to. I worked at a small airport and a lot of times if you bought fuel they would waive the landing fees. Although when you did have to pay you would pay to the line crew.

Very often it's done at the FBO. Failing that, remember that by the rules, all landings must be reported to the airport manager. I find it's best to call ahead by phone BEFORE departing for a smaller airport (especially if it's private) & ask questions about landing fees, transportation, services etc.
