he is a new Christian. he is not Jewish.

any advice of how to explain Jesus?

They are either Jewish or....on their way to being Christian. When I was converting, I was ok with G-d....but the whole Jesus thing was a big step. Give the spirit some time.

Colossians 1:15 explains that Jesus was the "firstBORN" of all that was created by God and 1:16 goes on to say that all other things were created through him and for him.

They can believe in God, and perhaps that Jesus existed, but that he is not necessarily the one and only way into heaven.
