If you have no income you don't have to file income tax statements. However, if you are married, you can file jointly with your husband or wife and the taxes will be less than if he or she filed separately.

Stuff like this you really should ask an accountant. Make an appointment at a Charles Schwab or similar.

What I do know is that you have to claim your income in the States, even though you live abroad. It will not be taxed any further, but I don't think that the IRS will buy the fact that you are living on love & air. Even if you have capital gains or you are living off the interest of a sum of money, they must be reported.

Once again, check with an accountant.

No....that's way it is called income tax. But if you are eligible for certain credits you can receive money back by filing separately. Those credits are income based.
