Can you view the image you want to photograph on the LCD or is it limited to the viewfinder.

It is a classic DSLR body = you can see only using the optical viewfinder. However you can see the photo on the LCD after you do the shot + histogram.

Stefan R is wrong ! Oympus E330, Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 (DSLR) and FZ30 (superzoom class = not DSLR), FZ50 (superzoom class = not DSLR), allow you to see on LCD.

Almost all of the DSLRs in the market use the optical viewfiner for composition (That's the main reason why they call it SLR).

The olympus E330 can let you compose using the LCD with the mirror lock up feature but I personally don't think it is a good idea since that will increase the chance for dust to get onto the low pass filter which can be a pain to remove it.

eos 400d is a dslr, therefor you can only view it on the viewfinder. olympus however, has the exception of the e330 which has live view on lcd.

there is only one camera where you can see the picture you want to shot ... sony! all others does not support this faeture in the moment. when you not use the viewfinder, why use an dslr-camera?
