I bought my desktop with no operating system, and it is even stronger than the laptop , but the result i get is very poor like screen resolution and color quality is stuck on the lowest level, very big letters and not changeable, no sound etc.

congratulation you have successfully installed the operating system.
now next step is to install the drivers...
you need following drivers-
1.display driver
2.sound driver
etc..

check you must be having driver cd of your pc

with the software that they provide with a lap top generally its made for a laptop and not a desktop therefore it will act weird! you can try using someone elses disk with your license key (under your laptop) and see if that works... if its XP then it should... i had that problem when a clients laptop broke so they wanted to license a desktop instead of having to buy the laptop over again which is more expensive.. hope i helped!

Thatz bcos u havent installed the display driver correctly. check with ur motherboard manufacturers site and download the display driver. If u do not install that win xp will use a basic driver and display at min resolution

Yes you can.The reasons for your problems are drivers.You must install all drivers needed by your desktop configuration.

Boot in safe mode, run system restore. Failing this; reformat at least partially.

If you are attempting to load beta software you will likely have issues.
