Hi, Take empty paper boxes, such as, cigarette covers, match box covers, tooth paste boxes etc and cover it with aluminum foil (used in the kitchen) or with coloured presentation paper using "cello" tapes and tie a string and hang it on the tree.....Cheers...Merry x'mas..

Take him on a quick trip to the local fabric and cradts stores. When we were you we used the satin styrofoam balls, pins, beads, sequins, ribbon, tassels, etc to make ornaments that are now treasued keepsakes.
They also have wooden ornaments to make, inexpensive bags of beads for garland, water based paints, ceramic unpainted ornaments, as well as some more modern compound ornaments that are a delight to paint and decorate. They have plenty of rub on stickers to decorate old lightbulbs that can be turned into ornaments as well.
Also visit any place that sells real christmas trees and wraps them for the customer because they often trim the branches, and these branches are free if anyone wants them. I make long garland for the outside, around the windows, and wreaths with the pine, then use the very inexpensive (3 for $1) items to decorate them.

I'll be using the same old fashioned red and gold colour scheme I've had for years, my living room is boring cream so it brightens it up, I have bought a new bigger tree this year though so I'm looking forward to getting the decorations up in a week or so.

My 3 yr old daughter and I made gingerbread cut-outs for our Christmas tree. Simply make gingerbread dough (if you need the recipe, email me at lil_angel_6172003@yahoo.com) and then use cookie cutters to cut out the shapes you want. Once they're dry, you can paint and decorate them.

I did this a few times with my own boyz.....buy the styrofoam cups...small size....color them with markers...make xmas pictures or whatever you want....preheat oven to 250....place them on a cookie sheet....make sure to poke a hole at the top first tho in order to put a string so you can hang them up.
put them in the oven and watch them melt into little hats!!!!
you may have to tinker with your oven to find the perfect temperature...but once you do...the kidz will be amazed....the lil pictures they drew will shrink and look perfect
have fun !

its fun to thread popcorn. make some popcorn, get a needle and thread. knot the end of the thread. put the needle through the popcorn and you get a string of popcorn tinsel to wrap around the tree.
you can do this with mini marshmallows for a "snow" effect.
