I used to drink alcohol to calm my nerves, a lot of the time by myself...but then I ended up feeling depressed...so it was really just creating more problems on top of the anxiety. So I don't drink alone anymore. However, I do drink sometimes when I'm out at night w/ friends, that's always fun. As long as its not in excess I think alcohol is okay. But there are obviously other, healthier ways to work through anxiety - like therapy or medication - everyone finds their own way to cope.

I suffer from high anxiety, and panic attacks. No, I don't drink. I also don't smoke or do recreational drugs to calm myself. I've found in the past that while drinking something might work at the moment, it usually makes it worse afterwards.

My sister-in-law has high anxiety as well, and is a pill popping alcoholic. She's usually a LOT worse coming down from the drugs and alcohol than she would have been if she'd just sat back and let it go.

Find a new method of dealing, because you are only making it worse on yourself, which in turn, causes you to drink more.

I used to, until I figured out I was an alcoholic. Drinking in the end makes the anxiety worse. If you stop drinking the anxiety level will go way down. Life will get better if you do this.
Good Luck!!!

Being on medication for this, four years of counselling and many nights missed because of CRAFTS disease, (Can't Remember A F***ing Thing Syndrome) induced by alcohol, most people who suffer from anxiety and or depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.....have some form of addiction. Drugs and alcohol are the top two.

I don't drink but I smoke . A pack every two days, maybe that's my excuse to smoke, for I too suffer from anxiety at times.
