The person answering is Mohja Kahf, a professor of comp lit at the University of Arkansas and an observant Muslim woman. The questioner is asking her about the Hijab
Q:Do women feel sexier when they take it off ?
A:Women who are covered up feel very sexy, let me tell you.
Q: Really?
A: (laughs) Yes! There is such a sense of feeling enveloped and private, like sitting by a cozy fire. Like no one else has access to this warmth, no one else can see you. No one can see your thong underwear hiking up your back! (laughs) There are boundaries clearly demarcated between inside and outside, private and public, and for many women and men that is more conducive to a healthy sex life.

I don't see any problem with her thinking. it's the mystery that she finds very sexy. No one knows what delights are hidden under her clothing.
this is very different from the way so many American women believe. So many of us need to expose or bodies in order to feel sexy. Maybe the Muslim women are more secure about their sexuality.

I can see it. I often feel most attractive when dressed modestly, for some reason.
I've also heard Muslim women--friends of mine from university-- say they feel more respected by the men in their community, because they are not physical objects to them. An interesting concept to the Western world, I think (particularly for feminist me).

Hi there,
There are many virtues on the ruling on the veil.
Heres one to start off with
Question:
is it right for someone to say that since wearing hijab is not one of the five pillars of islam therefore it is really not that important?
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
This is a mistake, because hijaab is obligatory for women. Allaah is the One Who has commanded women to cover their adornments, including the face, bosom and all their adornments. This has been enjoined upon women as a protection against abuse and temptation. That is because women are the focus of desire, and the focus of what those who are tempted look at. So if a woman uncovers her beauty she will provoke desire, and people will become attracted to her and will follow her. This is the cause of many immoral actions such as adultery and the things that lead to it. So hijaab is obligatory for women and was enjoined upon them in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
“…and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)…”
[al-Noor 24:31]
The veil (khimaar) is that which comes down from the head and covers the face, and the jilbaab is an outer garment with which a woman covers herself, leaving no part of her body showing.
And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“…And when you ask (his [the Prophet’s] wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen…”
[al-Ahzaab 33:53]
So it is a protection for women so that there will be no room for people to treat them as playthings.
Question:
Is wearing niqaab one of the conditions of Islamic dress for women?
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
Hijaab in Arabic means covering or concealing. Hijaab is the name of something that is used to cover. Everything that comes between two things is hijaab.
Hijaab means everything that is used to cover something and prevent anyone from reaching it, such as curtains, door keepers and garments, etc.....

I think: whatever. It doesn't matter what their undergarments are, no one can see them either as a non muslim. It seems to assume that all non-muslims have their undergarments hanging out that that just isn't the case. Sure, there are exceptions, but that just doesn't apply to everyone.

Good for her,but she does seem to assume that non-Muslim females all wear thong underwear, and that anyone who doesn't wear the hijab dresses immodestly.

Well, as long as she feels good about wearing it! I wouldn't feel sexy covering up, I'd just feel good that nothing is showing! Yep, but she's right!
Peace=)

I think she is odd but if it makes her feel Good so be it. I do not think it should be what you wear that makes you feel sexy but it comes from within. she is making it both talking about underwear I would be very surprised if she was being genuin.
