Maybe you are lacking something in your home life. I get the same feeling, for me it has to do with living alone and feeling isolated when I am home. I prefer to be connected to something or someone rather than just sitting around at home.
Do you have any other activities or hobbies you like to do outside of work? That way you will have other options and can possibly meet new people as you expand your activities. Or maybe you can start doing something after work like meet a co-worker or friend for a drink or a bite to eat some place. You could even invite people to your home every once in a while. Also, you might consider joining a gym if you don't already...getting exercise can really help boost your mood especially after a long day at work.
Well, I hope things work out for ya.

Is work satisfying your needs as a social person vs. going home to an empty house if you aren't in a relationship, live with a family or live alone?
Maybe you feel confident, important and useful at work, gives you a sense of purpose vs. at home - the phone perhaps not ringing or the home doesn't hold any active interest for you (ooh...I hope that made sense).
A sense of purpose and social interaction are important ingredients in a lot of people's lives. Add a bit of that 'spice' to your life outside of work, ie. create interests other than work, for yourself - something to look forward to.

At work you get paid and your accomplishments may be acknowledged by peers and rewarded by superiors.

Also it is easier to be nicer to people superficially.

Usually at home you work but nobody tells you how good you are doing (especially not in specifics) and you don't get paid. That's why I feel for the stay-at-home moms!

It seems most people dread work! You are lucky to enjoy your work. The problem is that home doesn't hold the desirability for you that it does for most. You don't say if there are any particular things that make your home unpleasant for you, so it's hard to suggest anything.

You sound like me. I like to be able to solve problems and work is where I do this. At home, the problems sort of get solved on their own, regardless of what I want and when.

I sometimes want to stay at home and work because of this, but heck, I used to be a big workaholic.

Yes that might be correct that your work place is more interesting to you rather than your home. You might be among the people who love their job; the people who love their jobs go far in the life in success perspective. Congratulations man!!!!

Perhaps you feel obligated to be upbeat at work. I'm a totally different person at work and at home. At home i lounge around and am very lazy, at work I'm a go getter who is optimistic and talkative... I adapt to my environment I guess.

Sounds like you have problems at home and when you go to work, you are so busy that you forget about them.
When you start to go home, what are you thinking about? That is what the problem is.
Don't worry, you are normal.

Possibly you feel more interaction with people or useful at work....or you have less time to think about your problems at work. This is natural...dont stress over it
