Just wondering if an FBI agent can pull you over for speeding? (no other reason)

It depends on the state. Under the United States Code there is no authorization to enforce traffic laws. Some states may give them the authority to, but I have never heard of it. For example, in NJ they can arrest someone under NJ criminal laws for crimes of the first, second, and third degree only. They are not authorized by the state to make arrests for crimes of the fourth degree, disorderly persons, petty disorderly offenses (all three are misdemeanor crimes), and traffic laws.

I don't think so. In some states, even regular cops are not supposed to pull you over unless they are specifically assigned to traffic duty (they will radio an officer who is). However, if you are driving in such a way as to be a danger to yourself or others, I think any law enforcement officer, regardless of branch of service, would be derelict in his/her duties if they didn't make an effort to stop you. I do know this - if you were speeding, and it can be proven, no judge is going to dismiss the charges simply because the ticketing officer was working outside of the normal scope of their jurisdiction.

Just curious... did he issue you a ticket?

I assume they can, yes. They are basically the federal police department, and have the power to make arrests. If he feels you were going too fast, and that your speed was possibly dangerous to yourself or others, he can probably pull you over.

He probably pulled you over for something else but used speeding as an exuse.

Yes and no....they can detain you as they have police powers but can only enforce federal laws so would have to notify local/state police for you to be summonsed.

only if he or she has nothing better to do, or if he/she has enough proof that they is a real sinister reason behind your speed.

I seriously doubt it, they don't even use radar guns.
