Mucus should always be clear and thin. If it is green or yellowish and is somewhat thick then that is a sign of viral or bacterial infection and should be taken seriously. Go to your doc.

The color should be clear like water. Any discoloration is evidence that an infection is starting. The darker and more discolored, the more serious the infection.
