Uhh you answered the first question apparently.

Jesus didn't give a "name" to his followers, but he spoke of them as anyone who is simply truly a follower of him, truly hears his word, believes his Truth, etc. The name Christian was coined by the Romans and at first it was derogatory, but it appears a couple times in the New Testament, one I know for sure was by Peter, and it was talking about "suffering as a Christian", but in context it was used to imply that a Christian in those times was an instance criminal charge against you.

jESUS DID NOT GIVE HIS TEACHINGS A NAME. he was borne into jewish family and through oout his teaching never gave any indication that he wants to start a new religion. he himself said that he did not come to destroy but to confirm and fullfill. He always told his followers to hold true to God's true commandments and not that, which has been imposed and changed by the Rabbi's and pharisees.

Jesus came to teach the Israelites about how to love each other and God.
In a sense Jesus was a Muslim since he submitted himself to God's will.

The term 'Nasara' can come from the word Nazerene. they were also a jewish sect and Jesus' first followers. christians however thought that the word Nazerene means 'from Nazareth'.Nazareth did not exist during Jesus' lifetime.

Peace

Jesus did not a name to His followers. It was in Antioch that His followers were first called Christians.

Acts 11:26 -- "The disciples were called Christians (i.e. followers of Christ) first at Antioch." This would have been 40-50 AD.

Jesus did not preach a specific religion, it is the people (followers) that formed christianity after his death in honor of his name.
