Maybe because some people think the first will be the only one. I know I thought that once. Also, one tends to dwell on what they did wrong, and if there is still a chance to get back, and what is the other person doing right now. The easiest way to get over it is to put it behind you as soon as possible. That way the pain doesn't last.

Its hard to get over your first love because when you first fall in love with someone its bsaically the only one you ever knew. It was the best and the greatest relationship you have ever had. Most people have it in their minds that it will be the only one they will ever love. its also the first time you have certain feelings. like complete security. first time you let someone get really close. first person you could talk to without feeling odd.. its a bunch of firsts for alot of people. and its hard to give up your firsts. It goes the same with anyone with everything. Its kinda like the first car you ever owned. its special. it took you through the first years of your life. its got alot behind it since most of your life change between the ages of 16 and 23 so everything becomes new in these stuations and you get attached easily and cant let go.

Summary
its like super glue lol

It is a hard question. I broke up with my first love a few years ago and I got back together with him now . I just felt I have feelings for him still, but I m really not sure if it's just the first love feelings or that i really do love him feelings. But it could also be true that this man maybe your soul mate too.

Heh. They were the first person you really gave your heart to. Everything was so new and so wonderful. It was probably coupled with the emotional high of infatuation for...well, ever. XD No one wants to give that up.

i think it's because you maybe focused all your energy into him or her and get caught up finally being with someone that after losing it you just feel so drained and overwhelmed by it you just can't let go.
