If the egg is fertilized, and it starts to differentiate into a chicken, then you have a fetal chicken. Most store-bought eggs are from hens that have no exposure to roosters, so the eggs are unfertilized, in a non-embryonic state. So you are consuming a product of the chicken, not a living thing. If the chicken were to try to hatch an unfertilized egg, the egg would simply rot; thus, it is simply an inert product not unlike a stone or a piece of paper because it is simply not alive, and it never would be. A fertilized egg, (in 21 days I believe is the gestation), would produce a chick, but in the form of an egg prior to differentiation, is still considered an egg. So you're not killing a chicken if the egg wasn't fertilized or allowed to continue its formative stage if fertilized--stopped by refrigeration--you're just consuming a product meant for consumption.

SOME people say an unborn child is not a person. My own view is it is a person from conception. So does that make the PLan B, emergency contraception, abortion? No, because it PREVENTS conception, it doesn't stop it after it has started.
That said.........I believe strict vegens do not eat eggs because eggs come from an animal.
Did you knw some true strict vegens do not eat gelatin??? (IE jello)....jello is made from collogen, which is a protein that is found in animals and even humans. (it makes our joints and skin strong and elastic) Animal hooves, bones and connective ligaments are boiled, breaking down the cell structure. Gelatine is then "cooked" out of it and it is skimmed off of the boiled product.
So, you got more info from that question, LOL.. ;) ;)

I'm Hindu and vegetarian, but I do eat eggs, even though strictly vegetarian Hindus normally do not eat eggs. I can understand when eggs had a chance of being fertilized. But now, unless they are "farm-fresh" they don't have a chance of being fertilized, so there is no chance that you are taking a life. But there is a problem with this because the chickens are mistreated. The "farm-fresh" chickens are not so mistreated, but then there, you do have a chance of getting a fertilized egg. So I can understand why some people don't eat them.

Most vegetarians do not eat egg not because of religious belief. Egg contains protein, just like chicken, pork, and beef.
Vegetables do not contain or may contain a very little protein. Most proteins are not good for the body. Most food theat contain proteins also contain uric acid, fats, and cholesterol.
Its health issues.
There are some points in my life that I turn to being vegetarian if I have high blood pressure, and getting overheight, etc.Anybody can be a vegetarian if the want to..religion has nothing to do with it, although some religions like Buddhists are vegetarians I heard

they are very strict vegatarians. As an egg came from a animal and could have turned into one if fertalized.this is a condumdrum as vegatarians don't believe in killing animals for food . But will kill a plant and its seeds for food. A plant also fells pain and fear. when killed by harvesting. It also has a soul.

I don't eat eggs. Don't like the taste, besides, eggs are chickens periods (think about it?)
Vegans (not vegatarians) don't drink milk, eat cheese or eggs as they are products from animals. They have their reasons, but their health speaks against it

That is just one type of vegetarian. The reason one would not eat eggs is because fertilized or not, it is the offspring of a living animal.

vegetarians come in 2 varieties: ovo lacto (eat dairy products such as eggs and milk) and vegans (don't eat any dairy products). By the way, don't believe the ones who eat fish and who say they're a type of vegetarian; that's like saying someone who eats beef and poultry but who has sworn off buffalo meat is a vegetarian.
