alright, i have been smoking marijuana on and off for about 2 years now, but just recently it has become more habitual than it has in the past. all the other times when i was smoking heavily, i have had a girlfriend. now that i am single, and smoking more than i ever have, i am having the hardest time picking up women anywhere, even when i am sober. do pot heads turn women off, and if they do, why?

Any kind of an escapist addiction turns off most women, because women are usually looking for someone who lives in the real world. Admiration is the seed of love, so if you're smoking too much, it's the same as if you're eating too much, exercising too much, working too much, or anything too much. You're in too deep with other things to make space in your heart for a woman. Plus, a woman needs to be able to respect her man.

I'm not a prohibitionist, but I wouldn't date someone who was still in the throes of an addiction like that. Drug addicts tend to seek too much escape, and tend to behave like sociopaths in relationships. They do things that are incredibly stupid and incredibly cruel because they don't have the impulse control not to.

So if you live in a place where it's totally illegal, you might want to put it down so you can focus some of that energy on ending prohibition...and if you live in a place where it's legal or tolerated, look at it the same way as alcohol. It's nice for the weekends, but not every freakin' day. If you can't keep control of it that much, then it's best to put it away altogether so you can have a life outside of a bong.

A habitual pot head as you describe yourself drives a woman off that wants something out of life. She wants someone who is working toward goals, has plans, and better things to do with their money. Also, how can any woman really know you... the straight you. You are wasting your life and brain away... why would she want that if she has a brain at all.

I've been smoking for 40 years (I started at 15) and I don't think its the pot that's a turn off in and of itself, it may be other things, the sterotypical scraggly look, lack of motivation or interests, too fat from the munchies & couch potato-ing (?) As I said though, these are sterotypes and probably doesn't apply to you. At least you're observant enough & care enough to ask your question--that's a good sign. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em :D

First off, it depends on the women you are seeking. Most of the women I know are absolutely against drugs. Women are always looking for a permanent possibility in a relationship, not a temporary one and if the future even crosses her mind, she isn't going to want her children subjected to that type of behavior and it is too much of a hassle to try to change the way you are. If you want a girlfriend, evaluate what is more important to you, love and life or dope.

**** Yes any type of heavy smokers, drug addicts or alcoholics turn women off. Partially because they don't want to get involved with that sort of messed-up stuff but mostly because its too much of an emotional drain knowing your guy is harming himself. Other then that though its just plain unattractive, sure the girls dug it in high school, but when it gets to the point they are dragging your sorry a$$ home because your too wasted - reality kinda smacks them in the face.

Yeah it's a major turn-off for me. It's a filthy habit, and it also shows serious irresponsibility. Sorry if I sound harsh. You really should quit dude.

Ummm....yeah! "Potheads" turn women off! Why? Can we say dazed, incoherent loser reeking of marijuana with no regard for health, society, or the law just to name a few reasons???

well at one time i liked a man because he smoked marijuana, i thougth that was cool of him to listen reggae and ska with me ,and dance with me and take me to another world
but it gets tiring you know, marijuana users not being able to remember what we did the other day
those kinds of stuff,
well when you use pot, you really dont make sense, sometimes its cute and really enjoyable, but the relationship is not fulfilling for us women
if you want a fulfilling relationship, get serious
