Iodized salt:
Salt which has iodine (sodium iodide) added. Iodine is a mineral necessary to the body to prevent hypothyroidism and some countries actually require iodine added by law. For those who live in areas away from oceans, iodized salt is an easy way to get this necessary nutrient into the diet. Surprisingly, iodized salt contains a small amount of sugar (usually indicated as dextrose in the ingredients listing), without which the salt would turn yellow due to oxidation of the iodine.
it can be found in different foods...

Most boxes of salt in grocery store are iodized. It will say on package whether it is or is not. Iodine was added to salt a long time ago to prevent goiters caused by lack of iodine in our diet.

Iodized salt is refined salt (sodium chloride) which has a small amount of potassium iodide added. Iodine is an essential nutrient. This addition of potassium iodide would not be necessary if sea salt, instead of refined salt, were used. In addition to iodine, sea salt contains other essential minerals in trace amounts.
