I have a short-haired dauschund who likes to spend her mornings under direct sunlight. Is there any logical reason why she does that? She goes out and lies outside the door and for about an hour returns inside the house. Is it normal? please hlep me... :)

All of mine enjoy sunbathing. we don't get a lot of sun during the fall and winter here, so when there is sun, all of the dogs like to lie in the sun.
It gives them their vitamins.

I have a hairless dog and he loves to sunbathe! The warm sun feels good to him

Yes, both my dogs love to lay in the sun. The Boston Terrier especially! Except my dogs will lay inside where the sun patch hits when someone opens the blinds or opens the front door and the screen door lets the big patch of sunlight on the floor, he will lay their till the sun spot moves and then he will go lay in that spot, lol, i geuss dogs like to lay out in the sun just as much as humans.

Maybe she likes to be warm :) people sunbath all the time. Go to the beach and you'll see heaps of them! Animals are the same, the sun feels nice and warm on the skin... or fur.. :)

My cocker spaniel mix does that ALL THE TIME! He loves laying in the sun. He didn't really start doing this as much until he got older, but it's perfectly normal. It just feels good and warms them up.

My Chihuahua loves to lay in the sun like that! I guess it just feels good, because he seems to love it! Don't worry, most all dogs do it. No need to worry!

yes this is normal. Just like people dogs love the outdoors and sunshine. They are enjoying it just like you and i would. Most if not all dogs lay in the sun as much as they can.

It's really funny, too, because he'll move as the sun moves. Sometimes he gets too hot, though!

Mine likes it too. Dogs like to do things that feel good. Warm sun on your body feels good to them.

I have a short-haired dauschund too, she loves to lie anywhere near the sun, I just think they like the warmth. Its totally normal.
