Both are correct but "Es un placer verte de nuevo" is a more fluent and relaxed way to say it.

"Common" usage is tough to define since there are so many nationally and regionally common expressions. Just as people in different parts of the English-speaking world have different meanings and associations among words, so do those of the Spanish-speaking world.

Your expression translates "Nice to see you again" where I come from (Western USA), but that might not be the "common" expression elsewhere.

"Otra vez" and "de nuevo" mean virtually the same thing, depending on context, but one might "sound" better than the other depending on where in the Spanish-speaking world you are. Notice that the answers here involve how the phrase "feels" to the one answering. For me - a non-native, but bilingual English-Spanish speaker - it makes no difference.
