The commandment is "Do not MURDER." Not kill. There is a big difference. Huge.

Since this is a matter of old testament, you do know that 'thou shalt not murder' refers to humans, right? Thou shalt not kill your own brethren.

The Bible has nothing against eating meat. People of the old testament made sacrifices to God, using animals. They also wore sheep skin as well. I believe there is a specific scripture where it is stated that we can eat animals.

We aren't breaking any commandments here. Don't forget that all sins are equal, so if you believe that eating meat is a sin because it is being killed, then you must also believe that eating yeast contained food (bread, beer) is a sin, killing bugs is sinful, and spraying insect-killing pesticide on delicious brocolli is also a sin.

Be aware, there is something against wasting food and gluttony in the Bible :)

Plus, you have to kill most plants to eat 'em.

Murder is different than killing.

I thought it was thou shalt not murder, if you take thou shalt not kill, you can argue that the taking a plants life is killing and hence eating plants is a sin. If it was murder then murder is a human term that describles the killing of another human with an unjust cause. How with the second part of the question I can only assume that your an AR (animal rights supporter ) tring to brainwash people into beliving your cause, as it is well known in the bible/scripture that God that he give the Jews dietary laws which include eating animals.

Firstly, I am not a religious person but have read several versions of the bible. It is fairly clear throughout most of Christianity that the commandments brought down from the mountain by Moses were merely meant for humans. Perhaps the animal commandments were given to Gerald the squirrel on tablets of bark :P

No that biblical text was referring directly to "murder" of another human being. If you were to read this passage in the Hebrew you would see it was referring to humans and not just any living animal. Hindus don't believe in killing or taking life so they work around it. e.g. The Hindu men take a fish net and pull fish up on the beach out of the water. they wait until the fish die and then take them home to eat. The same God that told moses not to kill (murder) told him to take certain types of animals and sacrifice them for the sins of the people. So obviously there is a difference between killing for food and murdering a human being. Thanks for the chance to give my humble opinion. :)

This is my opinion, I am a vegetarian.

This scripture was not allowed in the Bible when the religious leaders met in the 3rd century and reviewed the scrolls that were written about God and Jesus and the lineage of Adam and Eve. The Essenes use this scroll, scripture to live in Harmony.

And Jesus continued: "God commanded your forefathers: 'Thou shalt not kill.' But their heart was hardened and they killed. Then Moses desired that at least they should not kill men, and he suffered them to kill beasts. And then the heart of your forefathers was hardened yet more, and they killed men and beasts likewise. But I do say to you: Kill neither men, nor beasts, nor yet the food which goes into your mouth. For if you eat living food, the same will quicken you, but if you kill your food, the dead food will kill you also.

No . That commandment did not mean only physically. God didn't say not to kill animals (of course for food only should we kill them), the don not kill is only applying to humans. In order for us to eat the meats He listed in the Torah, we would have to kill the animals. And if God said it is okay to eat certain specific meats then it is okay to kill them on order to eat them.
The main meaning of the commandment was to focus on hate. Hate is spiritual murder. Wherever there is a physical Law of God, there is a spiritual Law. If you hate someone then you are spiritually committing murder and it is much easier to not kill someone physically then it is to not hate someone. And the only way to truly not ever hate the way we normally hate with bitterness and malice and murderous thoughts is to have the love of GOD and that comes through Jesus His Son.

My viewpoint is this. If you eat meat or fish, you are not breaking a commandment. Jesus fed many with fish. If you hunt for the joy of the kill, you break the commandment. I don’t like spiders or mice in my house, but outside they live freely.

The creature can no longer ask the author "why did You try this or that?" See Rom 9:20. He explains Himself quite of course in His observe. the real question is "why do human beings refuse Him who has so of course examined His love and mercy for them?" the respond to the question is given in Romans financial disaster a million. nonetheless, you will repent, ask His forgiveness and be forgiven. you're no longer ignorant in any respect, or you does no longer be asking questions like this. you are going to be on the brink of a sparkling existence. you are going to be stunned. Many others have been. as an occasion, C. S. Lewis and Josh McDowell. To get to your unique question, the bibles i take advantage of do no longer use the term "fake idol", yet purely "idol". The term idol represents a dozen or so Hebrew words (some on the subject remember of one yet another) and one Greek observe eidolon. Technically, there's a distinction between the guy-made merchandise and the "god", besides the fact that if angel or demon. of course, there's a connection in the experience that the idol worshipper is associating the article with the "god". What God is telling us is this - "do no longer worship something different than Me." To worship some thing is to characteristic worth to it. The scriptures say that purely he's worth to be praised. I relatively have discovered that it quite is real. in case you examine the Scriptures to make certain what he's asserting, i've got self assurance you will additionally stumble on that he's real and ideal. The issues that the enemy makes use of to accuse Him are fake, and if we've self assurance him, then we are deceived. yet you're able to try this. Ask God this. in case you're genuine, show your self to me so i'm able to understand the fact. If he's no longer genuine, then no answer would be won. If he's genuine, then it quite is on your activity to get the fact and not be deceived. it quite is as much as you. meanwhile, i'm going to pray which you're making the perfect determination. bear in mind, love is extra efficient that the grave. If it weren't for romance, i does no longer have spent the time sharing this with you as I relatively have no longer something to earnings. yet once you do as I recommend and you agree for Him, then i could have won a sister in eternity.

Hmmm... it could be.

I'm actually vegetarian, and I don't support hunting least you may have to because you don't have anything to eat. But, there are many things to eat, and they don't need to be meat. Actually, it's been proven that vegatarians live better and longer than people who eat meat. Everyday thousands of people in Europe turn to vegatarianism as a better way of life.

The original diet God gave to men in the garden of Eden consisted on fruits. Fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts are the healthiest food we can ever eat. That's the diet the Creator gave us. He knows better than anyone else what's healthier for us, don't you think?
