Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord, shall enter in to the Kingdom of Heaven, except those who do the will of my Father which is in Heaven. Many will say to me in that day, "Have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name cast out demons? and in you name done many wonderful things?
23 And then I will say to them, I never knew you: Depart from me you all that work wickedness.

It means not everyone who appears to be a believer is one on their heart. A person can say "Lord, Lord" and not have the heart be sincere. Kind of like the Pharisees who were religious but self-serving ( Jesus said alot about them!)
He (God) looks on the heart - not necessarily the words and deeds - for sincerity and faith.
He is saying it to all of us. Know your won faith, and be careful because there are false followers out there.

Yes, he is talking to everyone who will listen and hear his words for what they are and not for what you can change them into. The false prophets mainly, those who did do good things in his name but they also used his name and word to do works of evil, and we can not serve two masters.
Not everyone who calls upon the Lord at their end time will be allowed into heaven, because their works may not have been what they appeared to be, and with God nothing is hidden, he sees, hears and judges all things.

Jesus was talking to the people that had gathered on the mount to hear him speak.
What he is saying not everyone that calls upon him will enter heaven. Those that do not truly follow him in the way he has commanded then he will turn them away saying "depart I never knew you".

This is a message for all Christians to take note of. You may proclaim to be a Christian or even a priest or a pastor, but the Lord can see through your heart if you
are truly deserving of a place in Heaven. We have many
false prophets, pretentious christians, wolf in sheep skins,
sunday christians, etc. etc. whom human look at them &
think they are with God. But only God knows....

In short he is saying just talking the talk wont get you to heaven , you have to walk the walk. He was talking to the people who claimed to be believers and disciples but for their own ends, without true understanding or faith. Think of people who go into the ministry to make their fortunes.

There are many who profess to serve God but only serve themselves. They do their good deeds and suppose that it will be enough to reach the kingdom of heaven. The important thing is to keep close to God and try to serve him if you do that he will recognize you in the last day.

yes i understand it means no matter how good you think you are you are never good enough and the last letter of the bible has to be followed and obeyed and even though there are lots of good people in this world if they are not following the bible they will never make it and then we only make it by the good grace of God

Salvation is not for those who only profess to obey Jesus, calling Him Lord. Rather it is for those who actually do God's will.
