I have been on many antidepressants and I used to work as a R.N. on psych units for many years. The 2 antidepressants that have the lowest incidence of sexual side effects are, nefazodone (Serzone) and bupropion (Wellbutrin).
Some people think that that nefazodone was taken off the market, but that's not true, there is still 1 company that makes it.
I started on nefazodone and had no problems on it. After my divorce I got more depressed and my doctor added Wellbutrin but I couldn't take the non sexual side effects. It works wonders for some people.
I'm on nefazodone and Effexor now and have both E.D. and anorgasmia from the Effexor. Viagra takes care of the E.D. and some of the anorgasmia. I've heard 1 woman tell me that some women are also helped by Viagra.
The person is wrong about the Yohimbine. Doctors do know about it and it was made in prescription strength 6 years ago, when I last worked. I tried it and it didn't do any thing for me. The other thing that might help you is DHEA. It's sold as a food supplement and did help me with my libido when I was on Elavil.
Of course it is necessary to remember that a medicine that causes 1 person to have a side effect does not mean that someone else will experience the same thing. There may be many of the regular SSI's that will not cause you problems.
I hope something I have mentioned will be helpful.

If you have found one that works for you other than that, that's great. I would be afraid to lose that. I'm sure you wouldn't trade getting your depression symptoms back for increased libido. I have found that although you may not be throwing him down, if you make a point to initiate or respond sexually, it is still there...just takes a little longer to get warmed up;)

I have tried many of the anti-depressants that are on the market now and all have had the same effect. No sex drive and gain weight.
Ask your doctor for a prescription for " YOHIMBINE " he will not know what it is. It is a herb but he can prescribe it in pharmaceutical strength and it will work wonders for you. The effect is not immediate so you must take it for a couple of weeks before it kicks in.

Ask your doctor about control released, it tends to slowly add it to your system so not to get a dump of it into your system and causing side effects. There is one brand that brags on it: Wellbutrin CR.
Good Luck

Try Wellbutrin. This is suppose to be the one and only anti-depressant that does not decrease your sex drive.Good Luck.
Hope this helps you.

Wellbutrin is what my doctor calls:" The happy, healthy, and horny pill." It is NOT an SSRI. They are particularly tough on the libido...
