What if there's no one that would miss them anyway so they wouldn't even be hurting anyone else? But even if there is, people always say that suicide is selfish because it hurts the people who are left behind, but isn't it even more selfish to ask someone to stay alive and be absolutely miserable just so you won't have to cry?

Good points. Suicide offends us because it's rude. People that choose suicide have scorned everything that we cherish and hold dear. They have trivialized the value of human life and we, as society, can not tolerate that. Dr. Kevorkian agrees with your thoughts, that there are some conditions that are far worse than death. Therefore, those people who have absolutely no chance of ever getting better, and who calmly, reasonably, and willingly choose death, should be allowed to control their own destiny.
The reason that we freak out about suicide, is because the decision to commit suicide is most often NOT calmly and reasonably thought out. Most of the time a suicidal act is an impulsive reflex to an unpleasant temporary phase in a person's life. If we can force these people to wait for a while, things really will get better.
I agree with Dr. Kevorkian and I would like to organize a jail break for him. Wanna help? Those jerks still have him in prison. Can you believe that????

people who are thinking about suicide are generally in two minds about it, Part of them wants to kill off the pain and helplessness and then the other part wants to survive. The human's survial need is pretty strong, research has often shown that people who do think about suicide don't actually think about dying, they just want to end the pain. Once they have taken the pills or whatever they think the pain will end they don't actually consciously recognise that not only the painful parts of them will be killed but the rest will as well. Generally speaking they don't intend on dying and the survival part of them is crying out to be helped. Suicide is not always an intention to die but a cry for help. Obviously there are a few that really don't want help but generally speaking most people are actually just trying to kill off the painful bit not their entirety. If we can intervene and help them to deal with the pain in a more productive manner then we can help them to kill off the pain without killing themselves. It's not merely selfishness that causes us to intervene, obvously we don't want them to die but more than that we want to help them to live and to not feel the pain they are in.

Its your life do what you want to do but just know that it isnt right you will be commiting a murder and no matter what even if you think no one cares some one do and if you are living miserable no matter what the situation u can always make the best of it so please dont do nothing....

People who really want to kill themselves do kill themselves. At that point there is nothing anybody can do. It does leave the friends and family with a sense of guilt which is unfortunate because it is not their fault.

We are put on the earth to live, not to die. And there are always people who will mourn for you. They want you to stay alive cuz they care about you.

It is just wrong, no one should kill themselves period, Just because they don't blood family does not mean it won't hurt someone. They may have friend or co worker that could miss them. Period it is just wrong and against God's Law

i think people should b able to die if they want to. sometimes it is selfish to do it, and sometimes its selfish to keep them alive. but i think if the need to die out weighs the need to stay alive then hey, why not do it?

yes and i dont want you to kill yourself, but the world is a horrable place and if you feel like you no longer need to be here than so be it. this life is not for every one and is seldom worth getting out of bed for.
