Please keep in mind:
1. He really is shy, so I don't want to come on too strong and scare him.
2. I don't want to just outright ask him out! So don't suggest that I'll ignore it. I want to flirt a little and see what that does for him.
3. We're at work when we're around each other, so it needs to be work appropriate.
Also, no, I am not going to ask him to go anywhere just yet. I can already tell I need to take it real slow with him. I enjoy a challenge though! What should I do in the mean time to hint at him that I like him without being too obvious? What would get a shy guy's attention?

I've talked with him as a 'friend' for a while now. I only recently realized in the past two or three months that I have a serious crush on this guy. I just don't know what to do to show him that. He still acts nervous around me most of the time, but other than fidgeting he is able to speak normally to me whereas he'll barely speak to other people, especially other girls. I don't know if he only sees me as a friend right now or what, its hard to tell, but I want to show him I'm interested without being too forward.

Well, i have been told that i am "shy" and in a situation like yours i wold start it off with like a drink next time you see him in the lunch room, and then maby ask him a question or two like tell him something completely out of the ordinary but still interesting that it can cause some conversation. You need to work the relation ship up and them ask him for his phone number. it may take 4 days or maby 4 weeks. but from there ask him for a "get to gether" down town and do some shoping. By then he shoul have "opened up" enuf for you to ask him the question.

Firstly, I am a shy guy so I am going to be honest (even though it violates your second rule). Now, that said; being shy myself, I love it when women are more aggressive. It makes me feel as though I don't need to try to compensate by coming on strong or being anything other than my shy self. The only trick is to make absolutely certain you don't come on stronger than you would normally. Otherwise, you will encounter problems as he will be expecting (and appreciative) of the same forward attitue towards him down the road.

I'm really shy and I just worked up the courage to ask a really pretty girl out.. Now we are going out. I 'd say just be yourself and don't make him feel inferior or insecure... Even handsome guys are shy so don't feel bad.
And don't belittle him in any way.

I'm shy and I will tell you to make the first move.
Make sure he knows that you are interested in him and keep a conversation.

Smile Smile Smile. Chose to talk to him over all the other guys in the room. Show him you are interested in him by your body language and your undivided attention.

Just talk to him as a friend. Get to know him. If something happens, go with the flow.

First of all, be careful with office romance. Sometimes it don't work out.... but I would say, email him or slip him a note and ask him to go to lunch.
