I've always used a natural bristle brush and good shampoo and hot water and scrubbed my brushes together with the natural bristle brush and shampoo. It really does clean them well, but of course, you must first remove any entwined hair. Once they are good and clean, I put them on a towel to air dry!

Use shampoo on your brush. "Scrub" it with a haircomb to create the lather and to loosen the "gunk". Don't forget, warm water activates any ingredient in a cleaning product. Shampoo works to get styling product out of your hair as well as out of your styling tools.

well, dealing with this one from my g/f for several years, I found the best way is to let it soak in some soap and hot...HOT water for an hour or two agitating it heavily. In some cases use a plastic long wire brush to take out the rest of the residue.

Let it soak in a mixture of any shampoo and fairly warm water for about 5 mins then wash it with cold water and dry. I hope it'll work!

just boil it for about 6-7 minutes and then rinse it with hot water. now your killing two birds with one stone.your sanitizing it and your getting the "gunk" out of your nice hair brush.
