I took the bottle away from my kids when they were 12 months. I cant stand to see 2 and 3 year old kids drinking out of bottles. My kids were all started on cups at 6-7 months, so it wasnt such a big deal to give up the bottle.

I started giving my daughter a sippy cup at about 6 months old just for juice and water, but kept her on the bottle for formula until she was 1 and then I threw all of her bottles away. There is no reason for any child over the age of one to have a bottle it is just ridiculous.

They are all different. I have four, some ended early some later. They also hang on to that bottle at nap time too. Sippy cups are the worlds greatest invention, to me :)
Some parents are stict about when to take the bottle (or pacifyer), even some inlaws. You'll know when the time is right, they are trying to get a sip out of your cups (they are ready!) or biting and pulling off the nipples of the bottles.
Just my opinion.

My daughter was off the bottle a week before her 1st birthday. Her pediatrician recommended she be off no later than 18 months to avoid any problems with her month development. After one there's no need for the bottle in my opinion. Obvisously being on a bottle longer won't hurt the child entirely but it can lead to some problems with month development. The best thing to do is ask your pediatrician and dentist.

Pediatricians recomend 6mo which I did with NO problems! My son didn't like it at first but he realized there was formula in it and took it! The earlier the easier.
In my opinion if your kids is walking, they should not have bottles. I have worked in a number of daycares all of which DID NOT allow bottles after 12 months because the RN said not to because we were not reliable for rotten teeth which I have seen. My son has THE healthiest teeth and gums.

My children were 8 months old when I took them off of the bottle. I did it then because they couldn't talk so therefore they couldn't ask for the bottle. I just took mine cold turkey they never cried for a bottle or nothing. They liked the sipper cups alot.

i would say dring the day aroun one--get them using sippy cups...however let them kep the bottle for nap times and eveing sleeping until they are abour 18 mths. when u get rid of the bottle intirely(around 18 mths)...tell them they are not a baby no more and u gave all the bottles to babys whos family didnt have any..they may not understand but stick to that story!

I stopped giving my daughter bottles at about 13 or 14 months. I just started offering her cups filled with milk, juice or water. She got used to it after awhile and she uses sippy cups with soft tops on them. As a matter of fact, we knew that she was not interested anymore because when my friend came over yesterday, her daughter dropped her bottle (who is 20 months) and my daughter gave it back to her. LOL

I took my sons bottle away at 12 months, just at his 1st birthday. I was terrified of him screaming and such, but he never just took his cup and got on with it.
I would say between 11 and 12 months would prob be the best time.

Well we took our little girl off at 14 months I know to some people that seems a little early but she took to it right away. I would say if they baby starts biting the nipples off he or shes ready for a sippie cup! Hope this helps some how!
