I'm looking to buy a dobe that is good with kids. It can be a few months old or a year, male or female. Would be great if it were trained to go outside.

what about contacting a breeder in Illinois?

Look on Petfinder.com at local rescues & shelters. Also check the classified section for people who have animals that they need homes for.
Then, check on Craigslist.org.
If price doesn't matter, check for local breeders.
