The reason I ask is that many of the acne questions on here have answers like, "Eat better." From what I understood, doctors determined years ago that certain foods didn't cause acne and that was just an old wives tale.

Acne is the result of having too many toxins built up in your body. That is one way of pushing them out. Drinking a lot of water is helpful, because it helps flush out your liver and kidneys, thereby helping them to take toxins out of your body. Sweating is also helpful. Gets rid of toxins. Kinda simple when you think about it, instead of taking the word of the doctors for everything.

Soda and fried don't cause acne in the normal sense, although eating a diet that's very high in fat does increase the amount of oil secreted.

Example, many 30-50 year old ladies have dry skin. If they begin a high fat Atkins diet they discover that their skin is no longer dry.

Acne is caused by bacteria beneath the skin and blockages from too much oil (sebum) trying to get out.

Best bet is to wash twice a day gently with cleansing grains (St. Ives Medicated), apply Clearasil or equivalent, wipe your t-zone during the day (school restroom) with a Clearasil cleansing pad.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

It's not true. The only way fried foods could cause acne is if you are rubbing the grease on your face. Soda does not cause it. However, if all you eat is friend food and soda then it makes sense you would be more prone to get acne because of poor nutrition. Those foods don't really CAUSE it though.

Eating greasy food does increase the probability of getting acne, so if you are trying to reduce your acne then the first thing you want to do is reduce your intake of greasy food. Acne is caused by multiple factors (and not just bacteria as someone mentioned here). Dont trust your doc on everything you will be surprised to know that often times they have very little knowledge compared to their degrees.

Yeah, doctors say that friend food and soda doesn't cause acne, but from personal experience I break out when I drink a lot of pop and eat greasy foods.

Nothing has been proven suggesting sugar or grease ingested causes acne. Overall it isn't good for your health, but it isn't the cause of your flareups. Although ingesting water does help, but that is because water hydrates the skin leading to less irritation for dry/oily skin conditions.

It is in fact an old wive's tale. I've been going to the dermatologist for 2 years now for acne and she says that it is a myth. Most people say chocolate causes acne, which is untrue.
