She has now gone past the largest size at J.C. Penney's for girls plus sizes. However, she is too young to go to the women's department. She is in 3rd grade.

My step-daughter has been my daughter for a year now. She lives with her mom and comes to stay with us every other weekend. How do we monitor what she eats there?

We have been to the doctor, many times for that matter. My father is even a physician. It is a daily struggle. I am a teacher and now look at my overweight students in a different way now that I live with it. You have no idea until you live with it.

i have the same situation with my son. he is 6 and wears a size 16 husky. i found that buying plain womens capris work great! they fit in the waist and the length of the legs is just right. everyone thinks that fat kids just sit and eat all day and thats why they are fat. my son is very active and hardly eats. he loves vegetables and friuts. he eats healthy foods. just love her and support her and make your activities with her physical like rollerskating and biking and swimming. check out capris if you can still find any this time of the year.

There is a such as Junior Plus sizes. I would check on eBay too for those sizes. Also, the Junior's department at most stores would probably have what you need, and what she will like. Just get them tailored if they are too long on her. If you were so inclined though, encouraging her to sew her own clothes, would give her something constructive to do, and a chance for the two of you to bond. Good luck!!

How about putting her on a nutritional healthy eating plan, without junk food, and visiting a nutritionist. It's the best solution, or else she is really going to suffer later. And will out grow those larger clothes still, the issue is not the clothes, it is much deeper than that and must get to the root of the problem.
You will help save her in many ways.

There are a lot of great plus sizes stores like Rainbows, Macy's and Fashion Bug. But the fact that a 9yr old girl is that overweight is the problem. The risk for child diabetes is too high to ignore that. Try to get her more involved in sports. If she feels self concious, start by taking her hiking and camping. Not only is it great fun but it's great bonding time!

I have a cousin who had the same problem. She started taking her to the misses section of stores or the petite womens. That way the clothes aren't the same length as just going to the womans section. There's also some places on the web that offer it but the problem is sizing varies so much. I would take her measurments or try the petite section....hope this helps...good luck

First of all, dont blame. Whats done, is done. All you can do, is help, and guide her to healthy eating habits, while you are around. And keep her active whenever you can.
I would of said JCPennys, however, I have noticed that wal-mart is now caring them, as is Target. But if push comes to shove. You could always order them out of the JCPennys catalog, they always carry alot more, bigger sizes in the plus, then the store does, because not everyone needs bigger sizes in the plus. But they do. Good Luck.

I would recommend you try Old Navy. The clothes are hip for young and older alike, not too expensive, and made for women with curves.
