That is quite possible the most pathetic sob story for getting into F I've ever heard.
Obviously, my answer is "no."

This will never happen. There is an advantage of booking early because if you book more than 90 days out of your departure date it is with most airlines 90 days prior when they open the seat map. The airlines block a percentage of the plane for airport check-in for reasons of trying to keep families with young kids together. Two adults not sitting with one another unfortunately is just not a concern to the airline. You will be fine sitting by yourself for the duration of the flight. Otherwise you can always try and switch with someone, but unless you find that one of you is sitting by a single traveler most likely they will not switch because then they won't be sitting next to each other.
You have 3 choices when it comes to air travel
1: Book in Advance and get your seats 90 days out (this doesn't apply to charter space)
2: Get to the airport early for best seat selections
3: Sit apart from one another or hope someone switches with you.

NO. Unfortunatly the rules of the fares that you purchase are more than likely going to have a penalty for change. And they will charge for any upgrades... Depending on what airline you are flying with, you may have open seating!
They really could care less if you sit with you friends or not, just boared the plane and get the travel over with.

Doubtful, if its full, then 1st class os probably full also. You can probably get seats next to each other once you get to the airport. Bulkhead seats, exit row and some others are not assigned till the day of, so there will be seat assigning and switching that day. Just ask when you check in.

Nope, never going to happen. You have to ask the nice people seated near you if they would mind switching. But the only reason you will see first class with this excuse is just because you have to walk through it to get to coach.

I doubt it , your best chance is getting someone to move so you will be able to sit by your friend. My friend and i , and my Nephew were all flying back from Disney World, the flight was full , and we were all seperated. Luckily someone moved so that my friend could sit next to my nephew who was only 7 at the time.

I've had them move our seats together if we ask when we check in but that's it!
