For machines that only take one size of coin that's exactly it. The size of the coin. It weighs and measures the coins. (I think it may also check some electrical property too, but that is hear-say).

theres a tiny little bloke (pixie , elf, sprite )inside counting yer cash as it comes through the slot and dispenses change as and when requied along with the product you have order easy!!!
