Missionary dating isn't the way you have had it explained to you. What happens is that a Christian is attracted to a non-Christian and they want to get married to them but they know that the Bible says not to be "yoked" with an unbeliever. So these people, instead of breaking it off and praying for the person, keep dating the person and inviting them to church or trying to convert them so that they can end up marrying another Christian. It has nothing to do with people going out on dates as a means of subterfuge to convert the person like some spy in a movie who is trying to use sex as a tool to get someone to become a traitor.

It's not only insulting, but an exercise in futility. I've had conversations with atheists about dating a Christian and it's clear that it would be a DUMB move. Relationships are hard enough ~ why would you want to have opposing religions in the middle of all that? It would be an insult to you, an atheist, for me, a Christian to attempt to date you in an effort to try and convert you. It is deceptive in nature and validates your argument against Christians. As a committed Christian, I don't judge anyone who does not share my faith, but I do not date anyone who doesn't. It's a waste of both people's time. How do I know this? Because I've done it -- LOL. Oh, he's so nice, so good looking -- maybe I can get him to love God like I do. I encountered an atheist on a website who was so physically beautiful it made me WISH he believed in God like I did, but, I respect people too much to play those kind of games. You don't try to talk me out of my belief in God and I won't try to talk you into my belief in Him. NO ONE can change my mind about God, so I wouldn't date someone in order to convert them.

I've seen a lot of good people get into bad relationships because they thought they could "change" or "help" the other person. There is a pretty fine line between discussing your beliefs/religion with another person and attempting to convert them.

I've been a Christian for many years and have NEVER heard of such foolishness. Why would God use deceipt to try to convert someone????? connect the dots.
I have however heard of cults doing that sort of thing, like the mormons and Jw's just to name a few.

I know what you are talking about, but I have never heard of it referred to as Missionary dating. What I am more familiar with is the boy/girl telling the other that they are a Christan to date them. However, it does work both ways. Yes, it would make me very angry. A breech of my own personal liberties, I do believe.

I had a woman pull a Christian "Intervention" in an effort to break my will and try to force me to become a delusional superstitionist. I sent her packing so fast, the door didn't have time to smack her in the butt on the way out.

Hmm I've never heard of this before. I guess you could tell if you were in one if someone were pressuring you into their beliefs rather than stating their opinion.
