the differences in the Methodist and Baptist are subtle to say the least. The biggest joke between the two is that Methodist "sprinkle" and the Baptist "dunk" when it comes to baptism. I was raised Baptist and recently joined a Methodist church. I have started a church softball team to make us visible in the community. We also are building a house for Habitat for Humanity. We do picnics and fairs where the entire community is invited. Other than the Apostles Creed, the services seem very similar between the two. Not sure what you are looking for in an answer but that's the best I got.

I spent several months studying with members (including a couple of bishops) of the United Methodist Church. I find them far more stable and rational than many of the extreams of fundamentalism. I am Catholic and find that many of our beliefs are similar, if not identical. I look forward to the day when there will be more unity between us.

In this part of the country, they are not too visible, but where they are, their presence is felt in their concern for the poor and needy.

Pretty typical of Protestant denominations. They are perhaps a little more liberal than some others. Around here, the Methodist church is one of the more prominent denominations, though not as much so as the various Lutheran denominations.

denomination=division.

Dp yourself a favor and concern yourself with Jesus, not a denomination. If the Holy Spirit is in the place, the sign out front doesn't matter.

I grew up in a UMC and they don't preach the Gospel. They have some other problems, same as other liberal denom's, like women pastors and perhaps gay pastors.

I stay away from them because I have a Bible that tells me what to look for and they aren't it.
